Charming, comfy and peaceful

5 of 5
This has got to be one of the loveliest cottages my childre and I have ever stayed at. It is meticulously clean and perfectly decorated. It felt like home! I loved waking to the sound of the lake and stepping right out the front door to sit and sip my coffee on the sweet little sandy beach. The teens fished from the dock and took the kayaks (provided) across the lake to explore with a picnic. The cute cottagey kitchen has every thing you need to create a fabulous meal. Sitting by the rustic fire pit at night roasting marshmellows as the stars pop out was our favorite. It rained one day but it didn't matter. The cottage has a ton of games, puzzles and cards to keep the kids busy. There is cliff jumping, a bigger beach and many hikes right up the road. Everything was so convenient, there is even an Inn a block up from the cottage to enjoy a nice meal out. The picturesque few of the lake and surrounding mountains was enough for me to enjoy lounging in my beach chair while the kids swam. We can't wait to go back to "our" lovely Nodaway.

Like sleeping in the treetops

5 of 5
I've stayed in this camp several times over the past few years. It is always the perfect summer getaway. The place is always clean and comfortable, and it's a very short walk to the beach. It sits amid a cluster of adorable 1920s cabins, all linked by grassy paths, and yet all very private. My top memories of staying in this camp are 1) Sleeping on the screened in porch, while watching Mars glow in the star-filled sky; 2) Taking the kayak down to the lake one morning to paddle around in the mist with the loons; 3) Enjoying sunset evenings with a glass of wine on the deck, overlooking the lake and mountains. With its views and proximity to the beach, it's an incredible value!

We loved this lakeside cottage!

5 of 5
We enjoyed our getaway very much. This cottage was very cozy, well cared for, right on the lake and very peaceful. We had a chilly weekend but the gas stove kept us very warm and the fire added to the ambiance. We hiked the mountains, had some beers at the Robin's Roost down the road, took the kayaks out for a wavy ride and relaxed. It was one of the best weekends away we have had in awhile. I highly reccomend this cottage to others, the owners were great and easy to deal with and the cottage was everything promised and more. Thanks for a good time Shakey Jake!
