A House for All Seasons

5 of 5
The house and location are wonderful. Lolly couldn't have been more accommodating. We were two couples who came to Jamaica to explore a new section of Vermont and to do a bit of hiking and kayaking. The house is spacious and could easily hold more people. We liked the way that there were bedrooms at opposite ends of the house affording total privacy. The home was clean and well maintained. The kitchen was fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes, paper towels, spices, oil, vinegar, etc. which was great as we prepared all of our meals there. We loved the open feeling from the kitchen to the large dining/living area. Jamaica was fun to explore. Don't miss the Ellen Beckwith gallery. Also drove to the Vermont Country Store which is a must-do. We drove to the dam and walked down the backside. That was interesting! We continued to the trail to Hamilton Falls. Worth the hike. The men returned the way we came. We were intimidated by hiking back up the dam and walked out to the State Park. Couldn't paddle with our boats on Cole Pond due to strict regulations to keep out invasive species. We went to Lowell Lake which we enjoyed. The weather wasn't great and we suspect this kept others away. Another day we went to Gale Pond. I suggest going early. Again the weather was iffy and few people were there. As it started to clear and we were leaving several fishing boats with motors were launching. We have rented many properties and I would recommend this one. It was easy to see that it would be a great ski house as well.

Lovely Spot

5 of 5
This farmhouse was the perfect spot for our Family Reunion this summer. My brother spent hours fishing on the Battenkill, many family members went hiking on the property and nearby trails, and all of us loved the on-site pond, just a short walk from the back porch. As we left, we were making plans to come back again next year!

Really very nice...

5 of 5
We stayed in the house for a week in June 2014.Everything was as described in the listing...It would of been nice to have the deck set up instead of us lugging everything out then back in, but I guess it added to the enjoyment. food, gas, worms, pharmacy,Etc. is about a 5 minute drive. The area the house is in is Very Nice, as is the house itself. Very dark at night, great to see the millions of stars in the night sky. Every utensil for your cooking enjoyment is there. Dishwasher. Cable and WiFi. 2 Bathrooms, 3 bedrooms.... There are So Many different things to do in a 50-60 mile radius, you can't do it all in a week !!! Try and avoid Taylor Farms, overpriced stale moldy goods. There are plenty of farmstands in the vicinity. The Saturday Farmers Market in "downtown" is a do not miss proposition. All in All, worth the money. Sleeps six comfortably.Close to all ski areas, fishing, horseback riding. The people in town were very friendly, not snobbish like some areas we've been to. I recommend it.Coming from me, that is a BIG endorsement.
