Charming chalet with great access to Stowe

5 of 5
Our family of 4, including 2 teenagers, had a wonderful time at Don & Mary's chalet. The chalet is charming yet completely updated and modernized with an open lay-out and lots of sunlight. The kitchen had everything needed to prepare meals. Everything was incredibly clean and new. The beds were very comfortable. The main bedroom is on the main floor while the lower level includes another queen bed plus a bunk bed with double bed below and single above set in a little niche with a curtain - our teenage daughter loved secluding herself in this little nook. Communication with Don and Mary to rent the chalet at the last minute was effortless and responses were almost immediate. The chalet is very close to downtown Stowe (5 min) and then a bit further to the slopes. We had great spring skiing conditions as well as great success demo'ing (and purchasing) skis at the demo hut on the mountain. Cliff House Restaurant on the mountain should not be missed. We will definitely stay again!

Loved it!

This was our first trip to Stowe and our first experience doing a rental with HomeAway. Description of location and layout was great-only complaint here was the sign is kinda small with the overgrowth-easier to spot coming from the south than the north. Well equiped as described. Property was clean and well maintained, more instructions as to the workings of the house would have been helpful-had to call 911 after the house filled with smoke when we built a fire and the flu wasn't open as we thought. There is no local or network TV although there is a satillite.Property not handicap accessible, no wheelchair ramps, no .handrails to deck and the inside stairway is open on one side. The views are beautiful and location is easy commute all over Vermont. We went the week before Columbus weekend, 2009. The trees were beautiful even though we had overcast skies. There was fog over the mountains, but the sun came out when we reached the top of the mountain on the gondola.Stowe Lantern tour was fun but would recommend going the begining of your stay as we learned interesting facts that we would have liked to explore. Owner was great to work with-would highly recommend this property and hope to visit again sometime.
