                  Delightful stay

                  5 of 5
My friends and I had a wonderful time in Mr. Simon's lovely home. It is an idyllic little country getaway. It was very well kept, clean, and modern. Craig, the caretaker of the home, deserves special kudos. He was so polite and attentive throughout our entire stay. We felt very welcomed and I would definitely rent from Mr. Simon again. In addition, the home is only a 10-15 minute drive from Brattleboro and all of its attractions. By the end of the first day we were well acquainted with the roads and were easily able to navigate the area.

Family of 7 from the Midwest

                  5 of 5
We have been renting houses through VRBO all over the country for the past 5 years, and the Simon house was another beautiful find. We had never been to Vermont, so Paul was helpful early on when I asked for hiking, biking and canoeing suggestions. His recommendations of hiking Mount Wantastiquet in New Hampshire and biking/hiking the West River Trail were helpful, and he also suggested the Brattleboro Farmers Market on Sundays. The Simon house is near the quaint town of Brattleboro, where we found Mocha Joe's for coffee every morning, as well as a couple of bakeries; for dinner, we enjoyed Top of the Hill Grill, Three Stones (Mexican), TJ Buckleys, and we would have tried other restaurants in town if the Brattleboro Food Coop didn't provide wonderful fresh food that enabled a family of 7 to prepare a couple of dinners in the immense, fully-stocked kitchen in the Simon house. The Simon house is also situated in a location that day trips are easily accessible from. We visited Manchester, Vt., where the Hildene estate of Robert Todd Lincoln was available to tour, as well as the uniquely unusual Northshire Bookstore, and the fabulous Silver Fork Restaurant , which requires reservations several weeks in advance. Near Manchester is the Bromley Mountain Adventure Park, which is another full day trip. In addition, we happened to be in Vermont during the Marlboro Summer Music Festival, and we saw a compelling concert our last evening in Vermont. Now, for the Simon house. We were greeted by the caretaker, Craig, who presented a very clean house and provided detailed instructions in the operation of the house. He also called midweek and came out to refill/repair a couple of minor items. The way the house is designed, each bedroom provides ample privacy. My son and his wife pretty much had their own suite on the second floor, on one side of the house, and the 2 bedrooms on the 3rd floor were perfect for my daughter and sister-in-law on the other side of the house. Every day, we noticed something unique about the house. The two outside patios provided great reading/knitting atmospheres during the day, and the fireplace, tiki lights and outdoor stereo added to our night time enjoyment. I loved the wall tile installation on the 2nd and 3rd floor bathrooms, and the fireplace wall. I also loved the light fixture in the 2nd floor bedroom which created designs on the walls and ceiling. Unique house!

Wonderful Home for a Winter Getaway

                  5 of 5
We knew we'd found a great place when the road narrowed, we arrived in the driveway and we saw the view! The home was warm, comfortable and plenty spacious for our multigenerational family vacation. A long sledding hill outside the door, a dead-end country road for cross country skiing, a kitchen roomy enough for a couple of cooks, and 3- season porches that we're warm in the morning sun were all major pluses. A note with a package filled with the makings for s'mores, and marshmallow sticks by the fireplace were nice welcoming touches. Michael (the owner) contacted us mid-week to make sure everything was okay for us. Brattleboro is nearby and offers excellent food. We highly recommend Three Stones (make reservations; it's tiny) and Amy's Bakery Arts Cafe. We were delighted by the Brattleboro Museum's annual domino tumble. There are also lots of interesting shops, which we did not explore during this visit. For yarn enthusiasts, a tour of the Green Mountain Spinnery in Putney was very interesting. We think the property and the area would be beautiful places to be in any season.
