Wonderful Farmhouse Vacation

5 of 5
Our family stayed here for 9 days to attend a family wedding in nearby Brattleboro. We had a wonderful stay. Comfy beds, well appointed kitchen, beautiful views, couldn't get much better than this. The nearby town of Putney is very cute and was fun to explore. Good location as a starting point for further exploration. Would definitely stay here again!

Serene Getaway

5 of 5
We chose this log home because we were looking for an affordable place set away from neighbors, with some land around it for exploring, for our family and our dog. We also wanted to be near places that we were interested in for hiking. The owner is great about e mailing and answering any questions, and we left for our trip feeling that we new exactly what to expect. We received an e mail packet with tons of information, and even a map from our house to the cabin! We made use of all of the sleeping spaces, and everyone slept comfortably. We enjoyed the choice of being able to eat at the kitchen table or outside at the picnic table and we found everything we needed for cooking. The notebook and bulletin board shared ideas for places to eat out, but we only had lunch out on the way back from The Crowley Cheese Factory (don’t drive all the way there unless your name is Crowley and you need the T shirt!) We ate at Bryant’s in Weston, which is at one of the Vermont Country Stores. It was excellent, but the grocery store was so convenient, the kitchen was great, and there’s a BBQ, so we chose to eat at the log home the rest of the time. For day trips, we enjoyed the State Park in Brattleboro, Mount Manadnock and Chesterfield Gorge Geological Park, which is really nearby, and we just happened upon it-very pretty little hike! We also spent nice, relaxing time reading and talking in the beautiful yard, hanging out at the fire pit (so nice to see tons of stars!!), playing some of the games that were there, and enjoying the breezy view from the sun porch (a nice, quiet spot away from the rest of the house.). The boys enjoyed the hammock, wandering around the surrounding land, checking out the bullfrogs at night and cooling off in the waterfall and pond. We didn’t have time to check out any of the cute little shops, but there seem to be many to choose from! We were so happy to find such a great place to get away from it all, and keeping the price down by cleaning up after ourselves was an added plus-very manageable. For the first time ever, I wasn’t in a hurry to get home to my dog-we were so glad that he was able to enjoy this time with us!
