Pretty much as expected.

Our host, Dave, was very accommodating. We never met Julia. We had several minor issues. The first night and the next morning there were many insects inside the house. It turns out that the bathroom window was open and didn't have a screen. Also regarding the bathroom, the lighting is poor, the window is over the sink and the mirror is over the toilet. We managed to work around this. I would suggest a florescent light be installed on the side of the cabinet or ceiling. The mirror, I don't know, perhaps put it on a piano hinge so it can be swung around and be used with the sink. I think a microwave is a necessity, a TV would be good and a landline phone is important because cel phone reception is so poor. The home was clean and the beds were comfortable. The interstate was a couple of minutes away. We were actually visiting friends and relatives in Connecticut. We were able to get down to Hartford in less than 75 mins. There is a great Deli right down the street which we strongly recommend. We would recommend this rental as long as everyone is aware it's lacking in some amenities.

Wonderful Home for a Winter Getaway

5 of 5
We knew we'd found a great place when the road narrowed, we arrived in the driveway and we saw the view! The home was warm, comfortable and plenty spacious for our multigenerational family vacation. A long sledding hill outside the door, a dead-end country road for cross country skiing, a kitchen roomy enough for a couple of cooks, and 3- season porches that we're warm in the morning sun were all major pluses. A note with a package filled with the makings for s'mores, and marshmallow sticks by the fireplace were nice welcoming touches. Michael (the owner) contacted us mid-week to make sure everything was okay for us. Brattleboro is nearby and offers excellent food. We highly recommend Three Stones (make reservations; it's tiny) and Amy's Bakery Arts Cafe. We were delighted by the Brattleboro Museum's annual domino tumble. There are also lots of interesting shops, which we did not explore during this visit. For yarn enthusiasts, a tour of the Green Mountain Spinnery in Putney was very interesting. We think the property and the area would be beautiful places to be in any season.

Great House to Explore Vermont from and come "home" to

5 of 5
We used this house as a platform to explore Artsy Putney, and close by Brattleboro. It was Fantastic. The owner was great, and was great communicating with us. This house is a very nice and easy getaway. Fall was at its prime, and the house floor to ceiling windows allowed for a fantastic view of the fall foliage. Great House, cozy and relaxing to come back to after a long day of adventure. Close to everything, but secluded enough to feel like you're really able to get away. Kitchen is loaded with all necessary pots pans dishes for cooking and coffee maker for mornings, so just bring food or buy groceries at the local putney market and relax with a romantic meal and wine. (Putney general store sells beer/wine also). We had a lot of fun, absolutely recommend this house to any couple looking for a romantic getaway. Plenty of room, great deck and the wood stove is a nice feature. Only complaint was the 2 upstairs bedroom mattresses were very hard.
