Great location, plenty of space

4 of 5
We loved our stay here! It is close enough to Burlington to offer convenient shopping and dining, but far enough away that you feel peaceful and relaxed. The place was very clean and the appliances all new and in great shape. We were delighted to have air conditioning in the master bedroom as well. We had good fishing on the property and a short drive to Sandbar State Park and the "Gut" drawbridge for more fishing options. A&B Grocery, just up the road in Grand Isle, provides for all your food needs, and there's even Bill's Bait Shop behind the grocery for your tackle and licenses. We didn't make it to the Blue Paddle as recommended, but we did make it to Pan's South Hero Pizza, which is AWESOME. We highly recommend grabbing a pie from them and enjoying it on the deck. Seb's Snack Bar near the house is OK, but for creemee connoisseurs like us, Al's French Frys in Burlington was worth the drive. The dog also loved his time here, splashing in the lake (a surprise since he normally hates water) and chasing his ball on the expansive lawns. Keep in mind the house does not include a water craft, but we found you can rent boats at Ladd's Landing up the road in Grand Isle if you want to do more fishing or exploring.

Cozy secluded cottage with amazing view

5 of 5
My husband and I loved it here! Every summer, we look for dog-friendly cottage rentals in New England and decided to stay near Burlington. This cottage is secluded and very private (even though the owners' house is close by, you'd never know it and it's very quiet). To be at the end of a dead and surrounded by fields, woods, and lake is something I only thought I'd find off the grid near the Canadian border, but you're only 25 minutes to downtown and about the same distance to a supermarket. We enjoyed kayaking around the lake, walking in the woods with our dog, and enjoying the moon over the lake while playing Scrabble inside. Our dog worked hard at his goal of catching a chipmunk or squirrel but settled for fetching a ball in the water and chasing us in the kayaks. I also enjoyed waking up to take photos of the sunrise over the mountains across the lake. The upper and lower deck and beach offer incredible views of the lake. Definitely bring water shoes—the shoreline in most of Lake Champlain is mainly slate and can be difficult to walk on. While you're there, visit Snow Farm Winery just up the street. The wine is great and as an added bonus it's across the street from a field of sunflowers! I also recommend going for a walk on a path at the end of South Street (just up Rte 2 on the left). The path actually goes out over Lake Champlain and there's a ferry that takes you across where a bridge washed out a few years ago. The view from Downtown Burlington is beautiful and there are a couple great farmers' markets during the week. Our idea of vacation is going to markets, getting edible things, and grilling them while sitting on a deck. We also loved Maglianero Cafe, especially since it's dog friendly and our dog could hang out with us inside!

My home away from home.

5 of 5
This cabin is so special to me and my family. I felt so relaxed and happy while we were there. I am so excited to be there this year again. Last week of August is our favorite time of the year. Will be renting this cabin for as long as I can. I can not thank you enough for sharing your home with us. Love this place so much. I love Vermont. Born and raised <3
