The Best Camp In South Hero Awaits

5 of 5
Fell absolutely in love with this camp. Definitely one of the newer and modern camps located in the area. Inside the camp are big windows that allow lots of ambient light from outside to illuminate the camp inside so little need to turn on any lights inside the camp. At night the windows help provide a nice cross-breeze in the camp when combined with the ceiling fans. A full kitchen with an island which was fantastic.Oven and microwave were great and the refrigerator/freezer was clean and spacious. Even water and ice cubes were provided for our stay which was nice. Both bedrooms had comfortable beds with spacious closets. The master bedroom had a TV which was a big plus. Both bedrooms also had ceiling fanst. The queen size futon was also very comfortable and especially nice to sleep on at night with the cross-breezes. Plenty of chairs inside the camp and the kitchen table was nice and spacious. All cooking utensils, bakeware, drinkware and spices were at our disposal. Keurig coffee maker was also a big plus. Both bathrooms were great and well lit and ventilated with fans. Shower in the master bathroom was awesome and the ½ bathroom was especially handy for guests. Having a washer/dryer onsite was especially handy. Plenty of towels and replacement lines were also available. We really enjoyed the nice spacious deck outside. The front deck is shaded in the morning and the side deck gets more shade in the afternoon. Late afternoon/early evening the trees provide additional shade for the whole deck. It was so very nice having breakfast and supper at the table on the deck and many afternoons spent kicking back in their beach chairs. The lawn was so very big and was great for just about any lawn game you love. The fire pit was great and located between the front of the camp and the lake. You get a fantastic view of the sunset across the lake. Just a small walk down the road and you can catch the sunrise if you’re an early bird. The lower beach area was great, again especially if you have small kids. Lots of sand to dig in and the water was very shallow so your little ones will have a ball. Two kayaks were so fun to use. The owner was available if we ever needed anything fixed or replaced. We noticed that the water pressure had gotten low but the owner came immediately to remedy the issue and all was well again. It’s nice to have an owner that is available when needed. We look forward to coming back.

Great place

5 of 5
What a great place to stay! The location is perfect. Secluded and private...but a short drive or walk to 'town'. My wife and I brought our two year old daughter and we had a great time. My daughter loved the "cave" beds (bunk beds) and especially loved the property. The beach was perfect for her to play on and the yard was a great size to run around on. Inside was super clean and organized. While it's not a huge place, we didn't go there planning to spend our time inside, so that was not a big deal. My wife and I stayed out on the new deck with the queen sized futon, which was awesome. Very nice to wake up to those views every morning. Lastly, Michelle was great. She checked on us the day we arrived and left, but also the morning after a massive wind storm blew in. She and her family cleaned up the beach (blown in lake weeds) and made sure we were ok. Overall, this place was perfect. If we make it up to VT again, we will definitely stay here.

The perfect cabin

5 of 5
We've rented Jane and Eddie's wonderful cabin for two weeks the past three summers, and my family of four thinks it's just perfect. It's a bright, cheery space right on the water. Standing in the living room looking out, you see lake not land. It's like being on a boat, and it's very relaxing. Our favorite room in the cabin is the screened in porch, which includes, among other things, a hammock we race to claim and a table we eat at, color at, have our morning coffee at. We live on the porch. The swimming in front of the cabin's very nice. With kids, it's great because the water's shallow and generally calm, so easy to walk right into. There's also great swimming a mile or so down the road at Sandbar State Park, also great for kids. Other attractions we like in the area include Burlington (a 20 minute drive), North Hero (a 15 minute drive), and the Allenholm Farm maple creemee stand (a 3 minute drive). There's a very good restaurant, The Blue Paddle, within walking distance. As it starts to get colder in Brooklyn, my family starts talking more about South Hero and this cabin. We're already looking forward to returning next August. Thanks, Jane and Eddie, for the perfect cabin.
