Fantastic lakeside property

5 of 5
Our large family stayed at this great lakeside property for a wedding in South Hero. The house was spacious and had great accommodations, large family room to gather in while looking at the lake and a great kitchen, quiet sunroom for reading, and fun backyard for playing around in. The kitchen was perfectly set up and allowed a team effort to cook and serve dinner to the group. The wind off the lake was restful and everyone said how much they enjoyed the chance to be together throughout the weekend. The bedrooms were spacious and wonderfully decorated. We felt this experience added tremendously to the wedding of our nephew because we had such good memories of being together instead of at a hotel where everyone is separated in different rooms. We hope to return in the summer!

Cozy secluded cottage with amazing view

5 of 5
My husband and I loved it here! Every summer, we look for dog-friendly cottage rentals in New England and decided to stay near Burlington. This cottage is secluded and very private (even though the owners' house is close by, you'd never know it and it's very quiet). To be at the end of a dead and surrounded by fields, woods, and lake is something I only thought I'd find off the grid near the Canadian border, but you're only 25 minutes to downtown and about the same distance to a supermarket. We enjoyed kayaking around the lake, walking in the woods with our dog, and enjoying the moon over the lake while playing Scrabble inside. Our dog worked hard at his goal of catching a chipmunk or squirrel but settled for fetching a ball in the water and chasing us in the kayaks. I also enjoyed waking up to take photos of the sunrise over the mountains across the lake. The upper and lower deck and beach offer incredible views of the lake. Definitely bring water shoes—the shoreline in most of Lake Champlain is mainly slate and can be difficult to walk on. While you're there, visit Snow Farm Winery just up the street. The wine is great and as an added bonus it's across the street from a field of sunflowers! I also recommend going for a walk on a path at the end of South Street (just up Rte 2 on the left). The path actually goes out over Lake Champlain and there's a ferry that takes you across where a bridge washed out a few years ago. The view from Downtown Burlington is beautiful and there are a couple great farmers' markets during the week. Our idea of vacation is going to markets, getting edible things, and grilling them while sitting on a deck. We also loved Maglianero Cafe, especially since it's dog friendly and our dog could hang out with us inside!

Great place

5 of 5
What a great place to stay! The location is perfect. Secluded and private...but a short drive or walk to 'town'. My wife and I brought our two year old daughter and we had a great time. My daughter loved the "cave" beds (bunk beds) and especially loved the property. The beach was perfect for her to play on and the yard was a great size to run around on. Inside was super clean and organized. While it's not a huge place, we didn't go there planning to spend our time inside, so that was not a big deal. My wife and I stayed out on the new deck with the queen sized futon, which was awesome. Very nice to wake up to those views every morning. Lastly, Michelle was great. She checked on us the day we arrived and left, but also the morning after a massive wind storm blew in. She and her family cleaned up the beach (blown in lake weeds) and made sure we were ok. Overall, this place was perfect. If we make it up to VT again, we will definitely stay here.
