Great retreat

5 of 5
My family, including young children, spent a relaxing week at the cabin this summer. It was a great location - very private and quiet. Go here if you're looking to relax and disconnect. My family and I paddled around the pond at the base of the driveway, hiked excellent nearby trails, swam at Crystal Lake, and got pizza at Parker Pie. At night we watched the sun go down on Wheeler mountain from the screened-in porch or cooked marshmallows on the open fire pit. Once the kids went to bed, we read by the light from the propane fixtures. It was a manageable adventure living without electricity, although the propane hot water, refrigerator, heat, and lights made us forget it wasn't there. We had no trouble on the steep driveway with our AWD Volvo. Filling the water tank every other day was easy and part of the adventure. Owners were accommodating and responsive.

Peaceful Pond Getaway - Relaxation and Adventure!

5 of 5
My husband and I, along with our dog enjoyed a wonderful visit to this private cabin. We had a relaxing week of rest, relaxation, adventure, and silence from the busy city! The cabin is kept neat and tidy, with lots of rustic charm. The screen room and porch were great for views of the pond, enjoying our morning coffee, reading, and taking in some sun. We enjoyed taking the canoe out on the pond and our dog loved swimming! The cabin is away from it all - but close enough to a general store for basic food and supplies and a short drive to larger grocery stores and villages. The cabin is also near some great hiking trails along the Long Trail, but if you are looking for a quiet week away, there is really no need to leave the cabin at all! The owner was extremely helpful and responsive to all of our questions leading up to our visit. We highly recommend this cabin and the guest book provided some great suggestions of things to do and see nearby!

A Nice Little Place!

4 of 5
My girlfriend and I stayed here the first weekend in August. It was quiet and cozy and just what we needed. The owners were super-friendly and very easy to work with. The bed was comfortable and we slept very well. The cabin is tiny, built more vertically than horizontally. If you are very tall, you should be mindful; I'm 6' 7" tall and I was banging my head on doorways and lighting fixtures. Still, the place is very warm, simple and inviting. Loved the hot tub; it's worth the extra money. Having a washer-dryer on site was a real treat and made our stay much more comfortable. Unfortunately, we never used the two-person kayak. There's a short path down to the boat launch area and it would have been very easy to do, but we were out exploring Wilmington and Bennington. For high quality pizza, be sure to check out Pizzapalooza, the first restaurants you'll encounter as you head down from the cabin into Wilmington. Yummy pies and live music in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. There are a couple other pizza places in town, but they are more standard fare (not bad, though); Pizzapalooza has a great selection of crusts, sauces and toppings and they know what they're doing. I think this is a great cabin for two people. You could have four people here, but you should all be very good friends. If you're a ham radio operator, the owners are antenna friendly! I was able to put up a long wire antenna in one of the tall trees on the property and had a lot of success talking to stations over the North Pole into Siberia and Asia. A very nice place to stay. Thanks for a relaxing time.
