Winter family get-away

5 of 5
This was my second stay at the cabin, and my second season to experience the warmth and welcome of this lovely spot! The prime attraction, for me, is the quiet charm of the Hollow, and the rustic feel of this 200-year-old retreat. Oh, and the views over the Green Mountains are breathtaking! The trip was made with my husband and adult sons and daughter, and we took advantage of the proximity to the Green Mountains National Forest for some snowshoeing and hiking, as well as enjoying meals and shopping in charming Rochester. The house is full of antiques and collectibles, collected and displayed to evoke comfort and hominess. The place is spacious and well laid out for conversation and just hanging out and catching up with everyone - and the kitchen offers anything one might need to prepare a home-cooked meal, which we did several times! Rhoda is a superb owner, welcoming us with a friendly note and some yummy, local maple syrup. She also provides ample information about local venues, activities and businesses, and offered suggestions for hiking that were close by yet off the beaten path. If you wish for an opportunity to "unplug" from the rush and distractions of life, this is the place!
