The house was beyond fabulous.

5 of 5
The house had everything I needed. I did not bring anything but clothes and food. My family was so happy everyone had their own space and bathroom. We never left the house on Saturday. we played games and watched Christmas movies. My kids went skiing on Sunday and was very happy with Okemo. I loved everything about my Birthday weekend with my entire family . I would like to make this an annual event, it is so hard to get everyone together and have room for everyone. This house and locale offered everything.

Peace and adventure entwined in a 'celtic knot'

5 of 5
Meeting up with friends, I drove from Washington DC, passing through the bustle of New York City. As I drove further north, the falls colors greeted me in vibrant hues of yellow, orange and red. Upon entering Stowe I found a charming town center, passing by the local dairy farm on my left, and soon thereafter a goat creamery on my right. My expectations were running high as I approached Stone Cottage and they were more than met. Stone cottage has been fully renovated, with an exceptional kitchen. Lots of space for friends to gather, and yet nooks to read a good book or to just look out as nature envelopes you on all sides. Cross-country skiing is right outside the door. With great downhill slopes very near by. Biking and hiking are a must. Be sure to bring good boots. A short drive away, there is an exceptional interpretative trail taking you all the way down into Sterling Gorge. And the drive approaching the slopes is breathtaking, from the waterfalls, to the tight winding road, to the boulders unexpectedly appearing out of nowhere. There is a grocery store conveniently located nearby for all the basics, but I would strongly recommended going into town and getting some of the excellent Stowe cheeses, milk, fresh baked breads, muffins etc. And I should not forget to mention the assorted selection of restaurants and cafes. Local farmers market on Sunday is worth the visit. My stay was far to short and I look forward to returning for more exploring.

THE BEST PLACE IN NEW ENGLAND!

5 of 5
Wow! Where do I even start? Usually when looking for a vacation rental, I have a bunch of houses I go back and forth looking at, trying to decide what works, what doesn't, and then finally deciding on the best of the bunch... in this case, it was the first house I saw, the first reviews I read and that was it, locked in my dates within an hour of inquiring and it was a done deal and boy, was it ever! I have NEVER had a better vacation than the one I just had at this rental. All of the reviews on this property and the owners were spot on, accurate and truthful, without a doubt! And what can I possibly add that hasn't already been said by everyone else reviewing this property? As an entrepreneur who works from home, who is "plugged in" ALWAYS, who is 24/7 with her clients, this was the FIRST time in more years than I can remember that I actually "unplugged" for the entire week and didn't feel guilty because what I felt the entire week was that I was FINALLY getting a chance to feel normal again, to feel like it was okay to have a vacation and to thoroughly enjoy myself, geez, what a concept, and yet, for workaholics like myself, vacation is like a curse and yet... in this place and with Kristi and Ed, I wanted to just stay and never leave... I did things this past week that I haven't allowed myself to do in years... hiking at Mt. Pisgau, antiquing throughout the Northeast Kingdom, eating at the Parker Pie Company and having my first beer since high school, walking the long AND short roads, having nightly wine tasting in the cottage, watching the loons learning how to fly on the pond, canoeing at sunrise, watching the mist rise above the water, reading a book for the first time in forever on the porch overlooking the pond, watching Sunday, Monday and Thursday night football, a guilty pleasure I never allow myself, making dinner each night as the sun went down... the list just goes on and on and on of things I haven't done in years and it's all because Kristi and Ed set the tone from the moment we arrived at the cottage to the moment we left this morning and said goodbye to them... it was like saying goodbye to old friends even though we had just met them a week before. When do you EVER have an experience like that and yet, that is the exact experience we had this week. You want to talk about a five-star experience, the kind that people travel all over the world to have? Well, you don't have to travel any further than this place.
