THE BEST PLACE IN NEW ENGLAND!

5 of 5
Wow! Where do I even start? Usually when looking for a vacation rental, I have a bunch of houses I go back and forth looking at, trying to decide what works, what doesn't, and then finally deciding on the best of the bunch... in this case, it was the first house I saw, the first reviews I read and that was it, locked in my dates within an hour of inquiring and it was a done deal and boy, was it ever! I have NEVER had a better vacation than the one I just had at this rental. All of the reviews on this property and the owners were spot on, accurate and truthful, without a doubt! And what can I possibly add that hasn't already been said by everyone else reviewing this property? As an entrepreneur who works from home, who is "plugged in" ALWAYS, who is 24/7 with her clients, this was the FIRST time in more years than I can remember that I actually "unplugged" for the entire week and didn't feel guilty because what I felt the entire week was that I was FINALLY getting a chance to feel normal again, to feel like it was okay to have a vacation and to thoroughly enjoy myself, geez, what a concept, and yet, for workaholics like myself, vacation is like a curse and yet... in this place and with Kristi and Ed, I wanted to just stay and never leave... I did things this past week that I haven't allowed myself to do in years... hiking at Mt. Pisgau, antiquing throughout the Northeast Kingdom, eating at the Parker Pie Company and having my first beer since high school, walking the long AND short roads, having nightly wine tasting in the cottage, watching the loons learning how to fly on the pond, canoeing at sunrise, watching the mist rise above the water, reading a book for the first time in forever on the porch overlooking the pond, watching Sunday, Monday and Thursday night football, a guilty pleasure I never allow myself, making dinner each night as the sun went down... the list just goes on and on and on of things I haven't done in years and it's all because Kristi and Ed set the tone from the moment we arrived at the cottage to the moment we left this morning and said goodbye to them... it was like saying goodbye to old friends even though we had just met them a week before. When do you EVER have an experience like that and yet, that is the exact experience we had this week. You want to talk about a five-star experience, the kind that people travel all over the world to have? Well, you don't have to travel any further than this place.

Excellent home for all seasons!

5 of 5
The house and property were gorgeous. I can only imagine using the lake front in the summer. It's in a wonderful location that's secluded and private yet close enough to see the sites. We stayed for a week and after hitting touristy attractions everyday it was so nice to come back to a calm relaxing environment. We never even explored all the land. The master suite was great. And even though there were only two of us the house very comfortably could have fit at least 6 other people all who would have had their own private space. We hope to visit again and with our families!

Perfect family getaway

5 of 5
This property is absolutely perfect for a peaceful family getaway. We were lucky enough to be there at the end of September when the leaves were changing colour every single day. By the time we left they were blazing red, so beautiful. We took our 19-month-old toddler with us and Sandra and Mike very kindly provided a Pack n play as well as a high chair. The garden was just perfect for him to explore and he even enjoyed his first time canoeing. He loved playing Spot the Loons on the Lake and listening out for the birdsong. Terrapin is the perfect base from which to explore Vermont. We managed day trips to Burlington, Stowe, Newport and Derby. The information guide provided at the house was extremely useful. Highly recommend Parker Pie company (sitting in the garden outside was a lot of fun) and The Parsons Corner for breakfast. Jack absolutely loved looking at the giant moose in Curriers (Glover) and we found everyone to be so open and friendly. There is also a great playground behind Curriers for anyone visiting with young children. A vacation with a toddler is never the most restful, but sitting on the deck by the lake and just taking in the beautiful scenery was enough to recharge the batteries. Can't thank Sandra and Mike enough for being wonderful to correspond with and extremely efficient and helpful.
