THE BEST PLACE IN NEW ENGLAND!

5 of 5
Wow! Where do I even start? Usually when looking for a vacation rental, I have a bunch of houses I go back and forth looking at, trying to decide what works, what doesn't, and then finally deciding on the best of the bunch... in this case, it was the first house I saw, the first reviews I read and that was it, locked in my dates within an hour of inquiring and it was a done deal and boy, was it ever! I have NEVER had a better vacation than the one I just had at this rental. All of the reviews on this property and the owners were spot on, accurate and truthful, without a doubt! And what can I possibly add that hasn't already been said by everyone else reviewing this property? As an entrepreneur who works from home, who is "plugged in" ALWAYS, who is 24/7 with her clients, this was the FIRST time in more years than I can remember that I actually "unplugged" for the entire week and didn't feel guilty because what I felt the entire week was that I was FINALLY getting a chance to feel normal again, to feel like it was okay to have a vacation and to thoroughly enjoy myself, geez, what a concept, and yet, for workaholics like myself, vacation is like a curse and yet... in this place and with Kristi and Ed, I wanted to just stay and never leave... I did things this past week that I haven't allowed myself to do in years... hiking at Mt. Pisgau, antiquing throughout the Northeast Kingdom, eating at the Parker Pie Company and having my first beer since high school, walking the long AND short roads, having nightly wine tasting in the cottage, watching the loons learning how to fly on the pond, canoeing at sunrise, watching the mist rise above the water, reading a book for the first time in forever on the porch overlooking the pond, watching Sunday, Monday and Thursday night football, a guilty pleasure I never allow myself, making dinner each night as the sun went down... the list just goes on and on and on of things I haven't done in years and it's all because Kristi and Ed set the tone from the moment we arrived at the cottage to the moment we left this morning and said goodbye to them... it was like saying goodbye to old friends even though we had just met them a week before. When do you EVER have an experience like that and yet, that is the exact experience we had this week. You want to talk about a five-star experience, the kind that people travel all over the world to have? Well, you don't have to travel any further than this place.

Great Place to Stay!

5 of 5
Very impressed with the well stocked house. We were 4 couples, staying in the house and we were in VT for a wedding in St. Albans and stayed for a few extra days to enjoy the scenery. The house was clean and well stocked. Only complaint was the occasional cold burst of water that someone would receive if they were taking a shower and others were washing dishes or doing a load of laundry. We learned to limit hot water use when someone was taking a shower. I would highly recommend this place to others. We took scenic drives on Rt. 2 and went around to New York and traveled south along the lake and took the ferry back over to the lake islands in VT. We visited Snow Farms Winery in South Hero, VT. We had friends in Fairfax that took us to Snugglers Notch and Stow, VT for a day. Beautiful scenery and lots to do in that area. Thanks for letting us enjoy this wonderful house while were in Vermont.

Perfect vacation on the lake

5 of 5
It was a wonderful summer week! The house is located on a beautiful lake which you can see from huge windows, the moment you enter the house. The fantastic view is practicality inside the living room. The kids had a blast as the lower floor had plenty of interesting staff for them as well as the lake with the boat, the canoe the floaters and a lot of outdoor space for the kids to play, which was very important for us. The house is very well equipped and very well decorated with antiques . We didn't miss a thing. It is very well kept. Owner was promptly available and helpful when we contacted her. The lake is an opening of a river and is very peaceful. No motor boats. Very safe for kids. The only disadvantage of the house, but wasn't an issue due to all the other advantages, is the road from where you enter the house's driveway. It was a bit noisy as it is a main road. However, in the house we didn't hear the traffic most of the time and definitely not on the lake. There is plenty to do in the area, if you are up to adventures with the kids, hikes, waterfalls and plenty of antique stores. We were always so happy to get back to the house, the lake, prepare great meals, eat in, use the fire pit. We didn't have enough of it. I would definitely recommend it. It was amazing for the kids as well as for the adults!
