Cozy, private, and close to skiing

5 of 5
My family loved our stay at this cozy mountain retreat. Bob was easy to reach anytime we needed anything and provided everything we could need to feel at home in his chalet. Our trip to and from Killington to ski was a breeze. It took us 10 minutes to reach Snowshed lodge and be among the first on the slopes, and at the end of a long day skiing with our 4 year old son, we were quickly back relaxing by the wood stove fire and in the hot tub before dinner. The house was clean and inviting, and the kitchen was fully stocked with the essentials to cook our own meals, saving us from eating out all the time. Although we did enjoy a few drinks and appetizers at the Back Behind Saloon which is right across the road from the driveway. Great wings and unique atmosphere. We spent our mornings on the porch with a cup of coffee, taking in the beautiful hillside views and quiet while the snow fell. The morning we left, there was a plow there first thing to clear the driveway as it had snowed a few inches overnight, and we had no problem getting down the steep driveway. This was exactly what we needed to get away and recharge. Thanks for a great stay, Bob!

Great family vacation!

4 of 5
We had an awesome stay at this very family friendly house in Mt. Snow. We were throwing a "surprise party" for my Dad's 70th birthday and the owner Jack was more than helpful to make sure my Dad was shocked. The house is very unique and you can see it has been built with love by the owner over many years. The best way I can describe staying here is as "going to camp"... there are a ton of bedrooms with small bathrooms and we opted for the cheaper option to "bring our own linens". The layout is very unique and hard to describe - most of the bedrooms are on the lower level which also has the pool. There is one on the "main level" aka middle floor that is near a pool table and living area so exposed to the most noise. The two quietest bedrooms are on the top floor aka attic and they each are good sized with bathrooms. All the beds and furnishings in this house are old. It is what it is... we had kids and dogs and this house met our needs just fine. The kitchen is huge and we LOVED the giant dinging table that allowed the entire family to enjoy meals together and play board games. There is a bar in the main floor living area that was a fun lounge spot for "the men" and in the lower level entry way there is ping pong tables that we played with a bunch. The "gym" is freezing in the winter and the equipment is VERY old so don't count on a great workout there - save your energy for the slopes which as SO close by - just a 5 min drive door to door. The sauna was a huge hit - you must keep the fire burning yourself (thanks to my husband for keeping that going). One other thing to know before you go - the house is heated with coal stoves that require attention and effort. Its old school heating but it works! The "hot tub" is made for two people and you have to "turn the dial" on the timer repeatedly to get it to warm up (took a full day of going down to the hot tub and cranking it up every hour to get it warm enough to use) If you are looking for a big family weekend - or a crash pad for a big group of skiers - this house is great. I think it was a little pricy for what its worth - but we paid it and didn't feel ripped off. One thing to mention (and be thankful for)... a huge snow storm came while we were there (super bowl weekend) and we got "stuck" and the owner was very gracious and gave us a very fair rate to stay an additional night. Thanks Jack!

Amazing property, great owners, best location!

5 of 5
Stayed with a large group at the Chalet and absolutely loved it! The place has a thoughtful combination of amenities (wi-fi, sound hook up, kitchenware, ample fire wood) a terrific great room for common activities, as well as remote rooms for more privacy. Just a great fusion of all worlds. Location is a winner - in the heart of Killington and minutes from slopes. Equally as important, I had a wonderful time dealing with owners. They truly care about their property, are very responsive and maintain it well. The Spa is meticulously cleaned, walkways are snow shoveled. We absolutely will be coming back again to this wonderful Chalet. Thank you Tom and Carla!
