It's difficult to know where to start. Vermont has been on the "bucket list" for a very long time - 2014 was the year to tick it off.
I approached Kristi over a year ago to ask her advice on the best week to visit and after several email, we decided on the last weekend of September. We were not disappointed. As we were visiting from the UK, it was important for us to get it right.
The pond was more beautiful than we could have imagined. Peaceful, calming and unbelievably quiet. The call of the Loons carried right across the water and the more time we stayed sitting on the pier, the more comfortable they became with us. Seeing a Beaver was amazing, and a quick row across to view his lodge gives you an idea of how determined (if not destructive) these creatures are. As a birdwatcher I was not disappointed - the Bald Eagle put in an appearance on our penultimate day.
The cottage was comfortable, welcoming and a real home from home. Thank you Kristi & Ed for the maple syrup (the bottle came home with me!), the champagne and the chocolate covered strawberries. Allison wanted to try fishing and thanks to Kristi & Arthur, two rods were supplied for her to use. I'm delighted to report that a fish was caught!
The advice given to us by Kristi over the preceding 12 months helped enormously with our plans of where to visit, distances to travel and what not to miss. It made for a truly magical trip in what I can only describe as one of the best holidays I have ever had :)
