A month in Vermont - Wonderful

5 of 5
This is our second stay. We're an avid winter sports family who enjoy snowmobiling, ice fishing, snowshoeing, skiing and snowboarding. The house is ideally located about halfway between Jay Peak and Burke Ski mountains. It's also very close to many lakes (Seymour, Echo, Salem, Island Pond, Willoughby, Memphremagog, etc.) We were very happy to be able to snowshoe on the property which varies in terrain. There is also a short snowmobile access trail which connects to VAST junction OS15. Thanks so much Leslie for showing us the way. The double sided fireplace was great on some of those cold mornings (many overnights were in the minus teens) We'd turn it on from time to time just to take some of the morning chill away. The primary heat source is radiant floor heat so your feet are never cold on the wood or tile floors. A wood fired outdoor furnace heats the water and circulates it so the indoor temperature can fluctuate from time to time. Overall though we were very comfortable. We took walks on our snow shoes a few times to the field down behind the house and it was a great time. It was very quiet and peaceful and we even saw some deer. Just about every morning there was a fresh coating of 1-3, sometimes even 4" of snow, not to mention the several 6-10" snowfalls we experienced. The driveway was cleared when we had heavier snowfalls. As for parking, there is plenty of room! We were able to park our trailer out behind the house down a driveway that is maintained and our vehicles and snowmobiles were parked up front. Leslie, Gail's daughter who takes care of the house and who also lives here on the lower level was absolutely wonderful. She was a fantastic neighbor! She insisted we take advantage of the large yard and fields for us and our children to play in. She was very friendly, recommended some area dining and overall was a great person to be around. Our dogs even played together a few times. On the topic of dogs, Our 8 month old boxer came down with an eye issue about the time we arrived, think it started at home though. Leslie recommended a Veterinarian in Barton, about a half hour drive away, who was excellent. Got me right in and provided a very comprehensive evaluation on our dog. About 2 weeks after the end of our stay, as promised, my security deposit was returned with a very nicely hand written note of appreciation. Gail & Leslie were fantastic and we certainly plan to return. Thank you Bernie & Wendy

Great place! Everything perfect!

5 of 5
Our family of 2 parents and 2 teens stayed for our March Break to ski at Jay Peak. Everything was perfect, just as advertised - even some coffee for the first day in case we forgot! The beds and pillows were the comfiest we have ever had at a ski chalet. The teens slept in the loft with their own bathroom and loved going up and down the ladder. We skied 3 days - it was less than 10 min drive to Jay Peak hill. The washer-drier worked fine to keep us in clean ski clothes and the huge mudroom was spacious enough to hang up all our gear - even a little clothesline over the heater to dry mitts and hats! Jay Country Store and Troy general store had the essentials and more from chips to salsa, gluten-free bread to frozen fruit for smoothies. Deborah and Richard were friendly and helpful hosts! A great place! We loved it and hope to come back next year!

Perfect for our needs

4 of 5
We had a small bumpy start with not being able to locate the cabin easily and then with accessing it once we found it, the door code via the VRBO/HomeAway app was incorrect. After an 8 hour drive, it was very late when we arrived so we were unable to reach the owners. We were emailed a pdf that had cabin info but since we also had cabin info on the app, we didn't read it before. But, thankfully, we read it when we were at a loss, and there was a new key code. Once was got in, everything was perfect. Had everything we needed for everyone. Was very clean. PERFECT location with a stunning view. Walls are very thin so there is zero audio privacy but for our group wasn't a huge deal. We were there to snowboard and for our purposes, it was awesome. Thank you SO much for great accommodations! We'll be back next year! :)
