Charm and comfort all year round...

5 of 5
I have stayed in this lovely house more than a few times now (approx. 4 or 5 now) and there is a reason I always come back here when I'm traveling: this house is comfortable, spacious, perfectly appointed, and full of an antique yet modern charm that immediately makes you feel at home. Whether it's one lone writer (like myself) or a family of 7 (yes, it sleeps 7 people comfortably) it is always cozy and home-like. In the summer the pool is a lovely addition and in the winter, being right in the village is perfect amidst the snow, the trees, the classic New England architecture, and the store right across the street! Newfane is a story-book village in many ways and it can't be beat for sheer atmosphere. This house fits perfectly within the classical colonial architecture and the overall effect of the surroundings combined with the inner charm of the home make it simply, perfect. Like I said, I've stayed here, written books here, and loved being here more than a few times, and I am sure I will do so again, and again, and again. If you have the chance, I suggest you do the same.

My favorite house to rent in the Northeast.

5 of 5
I rent this house from David (Owner) a few times a year for the past 3-4 years. David- Great to work with and very accommodating. He is very responsive and helpful in answering your questions. House- The house is very spacious and comfortable. The living room has the most comfortable couch you will ever site in. Everyone always loves lounging on it and every night someone would just fall asleep or would rather sleep on it than in their own beds. Once you are in it, you will not want to get up. The fireplace is fairly big and always stocked well with wood. Do not leave there without making S’mores. There is a high end entertainment system that controls the speakers built in all areas of the house and outside deck. The house is also well decorated and furnished like someone lives there all the time. Basement- It is the largest open area in the house. It has a pool table and theatre with tons of board games and movies. Rooms- Each room has its own theme. If you’re the lucky one that get the master bedroom, it is HUGE and takes up the entire top floor. The master bathroom in is very large and nice as well. Kitchen- It is AMAZING! Top of the line equipment and all the dinner/kitchenware you would need. If you love to cook, this would be a dream kitchen. Jason(Caretaker of the house)- He is in the vicinity of the town and assists with any questions problems you may have using equipment or anything around the house during your stay as David I would assume is away when not occupying it. He is awesome to work with and makes sure that everything is set and ready to go. On our last departure day there was an ice storm “Icezilla” and all roads in the northeast were covered in ice. Jason gave me a call warning us about the conditions and told us to stay later until conditions got better and roads were sanded as he was concerned with our safety. Overall Experience- As I mentioned, I rent here frequently year over year so you know I love this place. Everyone that comes along with me to this house loves this place as well and is sad to leave on departure. It is an awesome private getaway from the city in a beautiful large property with awesome property owners and managers working with you. -PC

A slice of heaven in Vermont

5 of 5
What an amazing experience. I was looking for technology detox and to relax after the first four months of middle school teaching and I got even more than I expected. The owner was such a pleasure to deal with and the accommodations were cozy and inviting. The house is set away in the woods, but with an amazing backyard view of the mountains. It is very accessible to all the necessities - homemade food, hiking trails, and clean air. The house had two woodburning stoves - one in the dowsnstairs bedroom, and one upstairs in the living area. I loved the loft bed and the skylight windows that either showed off the amazing night sky or got snow covered after a typical Vermont storm. The driveway was plowed for us without having to make a call and the highways are always cleared. Take advantage of all the surrounding towns with the antique stores, homemade pies, and the snowshoeing trails. I highly recommend this property to anyone looking to just get away!
