A Nice Little Place!

4 of 5
My girlfriend and I stayed here the first weekend in August. It was quiet and cozy and just what we needed. The owners were super-friendly and very easy to work with. The bed was comfortable and we slept very well. The cabin is tiny, built more vertically than horizontally. If you are very tall, you should be mindful; I'm 6' 7" tall and I was banging my head on doorways and lighting fixtures. Still, the place is very warm, simple and inviting. Loved the hot tub; it's worth the extra money. Having a washer-dryer on site was a real treat and made our stay much more comfortable. Unfortunately, we never used the two-person kayak. There's a short path down to the boat launch area and it would have been very easy to do, but we were out exploring Wilmington and Bennington. For high quality pizza, be sure to check out Pizzapalooza, the first restaurants you'll encounter as you head down from the cabin into Wilmington. Yummy pies and live music in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. There are a couple other pizza places in town, but they are more standard fare (not bad, though); Pizzapalooza has a great selection of crusts, sauces and toppings and they know what they're doing. I think this is a great cabin for two people. You could have four people here, but you should all be very good friends. If you're a ham radio operator, the owners are antenna friendly! I was able to put up a long wire antenna in one of the tall trees on the property and had a lot of success talking to stations over the North Pole into Siberia and Asia. A very nice place to stay. Thanks for a relaxing time.

Tough Mudder Weekend

5 of 5
A group of classmates and I decided to do the Tough Mudder this year. We wanted to find a place that could house all of us, be fairly close to Mt Snow and be reasonably priced. We could not have found a more perfect place to stay the weekend! The cabin was much larger than I expected. There was 8 of us and I was envisioning that things may be a little tight for that many people. I could not have been more wrong. There was more than enough room for that many people, we probably could have fit more people and still been just as comfortable. Everyone's favorite feature of the house was hands down the hot tub! Our bodies were bruised and battered after the race, once we washed all of the mud off of ourselves we hopped into the hot tub and it was amazing! I am convinced that my body would not have recovered as quickly as it did without the aid of the hot tub. I am sure it would be amazing after a day of skiing or hiking. The front porch is huge. It was perfect for us as we were taking turns showering, we hung out on the front porch having a few drinks, listening to music and enjoying the great Vermont weather. It was a feature of the house that we really didn't think we would use but we spent a lot of time out there. When the sun went down and the bugs came out, we retreated to the awesome basement. We spent the night playing pool and board games. It was a lot of fun and a great bonding experience. The basement is so big that if you had more than 9 people staying at the place, you could throw a few air mattresses in the basement and everyone would be competely comfortable. Although if you go this route, I would suggest to give those people lots of blankets, I get the feeling it could get very cold in the basement at night. We all highly recommend this place! First, it's amazing in itself. It has everything you would want and then some. There is a tv there but we only used it for a few minutes to get a weather forcast, so I can't say much about that. Although who wants to watch tv on vacation anyways? Second, the owners seemed like super nice people and were extremely easy to deal with. They said they were going to slowly improve the place, I am not sure how they can improve on perfection but I can't wait to the improvements the next time we rent this place! Thank you for allowing us to rent it!

Perfect weekend getaway...Truly epitomizes the feel of Vermont

5 of 5
We had an excellent stay at this home. The pictures do not do it justice - super comfortable, clean, neatly appointed and very cozy. The beds were very comfortable, the fireplace was amazing, and the kitchen is clean (as is the whole house) and well stocked. We have been renting homes in Vermont off and on for 10 years and this place is our new favorite. It has everything we were looking for - close to skiing, big fireplace, and easy to get to. John and Betty are overly accommodating. We would definitely go back and highly recommend.
