We rented the Green Mt House for a second time -- Manchester a good destination for family and friends coming from both Boston and NYC. Since our group size exceeded the house, we also rented two additional rooms on the Wilburton Inn property. We could all comfortably gather to eat and hang out at the Green Mt House -- nice open floor plan. Beds extremely comfortable; Inn staff helpful and attentive. Stratton Mt a half hour away; Manchester's outlets just five minutes away. The Wilburton property offers opportunities for walking, x-country skiing right out the door.

Luxury Getaway with all the comforts of home

5 of 5
We have had the good fortune to stay in this amazing house twice with our family. We have 3 children -- ages 10,8 and 4 and they love it as much as we do. We love snuggling up in front of the wood burning stove, playing ping pong, eating in the beautiful dining room. The location is perfect -- so close to the Equinox, the shops of Manchester and the Bromley and Stratton ski areas. While we love exploring the area, we always look forward to coming home to this beautiful and cozy house. Ariane makes everything so easy about renting it -- assuming you are fast enough to book it as it is a very sought after property. The lovely caretaker comes to walk you through the house upon arrival, there are notes everywhere about how things work (the cable, the jacuzzi,etc.). We have yet to find a more pleasant rental experience and always look forward to coming back.

Perfection in Vermont

5 of 5
Late summer 2014 marked our sixth visit to Mettawee. Our first trip (Spring 2011) was perfect, and yet somehow this vacation home keeps getting better. The season we haven’t experienced is winter, though it’s fun imagining returning from the slopes to a relaxing dip in the heated pool and to the cozy comfort of the family room’s wood-burning stove. We have still to explore all the extraordinary spots that are close enough for day trips. (If the weather is right, toss bathing suits into the car: you might happen upon an inviting swimming hole. Or just head directly to Grout Pond for hiking and swimming.) Winding roads through venerable forests suddenly open onto amazing vistas, then creep back into the woods and twist along streams. Pierce’s country grocery store in Shrewsbury has become our go-to for local fare, as well as a farm that is just down the road from Mettawee. With each visit, we enjoy discovering the changes to this vacation home. Whether it is a smart-looking sink in the half bath, a new sofa in the family room, a large wall-mounted flat screen (w/disc player) in the master suite, or new pool toys, Charles, the owner, is ever-mindful of keeping Mettawee contemporary and comfortable. We look forward to our next visit.
