Very relaxing place, was enjoyed by all!

      5 of 5
We recently stayed at Betty's place, the weather, views and property were beautiful! I was lucky enough to spy a bear one morning near the cabbage patch before it retreated to the woods! The house was clean for our arrival and just love the decor and layout of the place. Can't fault it! We even took some horse back riding lessons and a trail ride from a lady down the road. Our chocolate lab found comfort laying on the deck and roaming free about the place! We enjoyed walking the local trails and visited Dog Mountain and Neal pond for fishing, canoeing and swimming. Very relaxing place was enjoyed by all! Would definitely return to this place!

Peace, beauty, and a quiet place to work

      5 of 5
This is our second stay at the lake front house on Neal Pond, and we'll be coming back. I am a software engineer and normally work remotely from my home. Home can be anywhere, so all I need is solid internet service. It's hard to find a rental surrounded by such beauty, yet with DSL service so that I could escape the New York City heat and get my work done. If we lose power during a storm, it's usually back on shortly thereafter. This house has everything we need. There is a washing machine, dryer and a dishwasher, a fully equipped kitchen, a fire pit, propane grill, and picnic table. Every day after finishing work, we grilled our dinner and ate outside. Then my wife and I would do a row around the pond before sitting outside by the campfire and watching the sun set behind the hills. The bass jumped in the pond, the frogs croaked, and the loons and ducks swam by. Friendly neighbors would say hello or join us. My wife likes to bake and cook, so another bonus was a Shaw's supermarket just 15 minutes away in Lancaster, NH. We saw an excellent show at the Weathervane theatre, Circus Smirkus in St Johnsbury, a classical music concert in Bethlehem NH, toured the Great North Woods of New Hampshire, and drove the back roads of Vermont looking for moose (we have yet to spot one). We went to Canada one evening for a delicious French dinner. The house is clean and everything works. The owner or his family promptly took care of any small issue or question we had. Would we recommend this rental? Definitely! But don't come when we want to!
