Castle on a Cloud!

5 of 5
We rented the "Grahall Castle" for a week in the summer for a family reunion; ages 88 to 14. Based on the photos and the renters' reviews our expectations were high. To say the house far exceeded our expectations would be an understatement. The house is a marvel, inside and out! It is obvious that a great deal of thought and love went into the design. There was plenty of room for everyone; bedrooms and bathrooms. Although the house is modern, the gathering rooms still had a warm cozy feel to them with big comfortable furniture; the library was a personal favorite. The views from the decks were spectacular, green mountains as far as the eye could see. The huge stone patio in front of the house was a great place to relax and survey the grounds and ponds. There is even a stone amphitheater in the back of the house! We had a magnificent stay and left with great memories. We will certainly return.

Wonderful and welcoming!

5 of 5
We were so pleased with this house. Uli is a wonderful owner and was a pleasure to work with through the entire process. The house had everything we needed and was clean. Well, except for the yard and porch due to terrible weather! The day before our arrival, there was a terrible storm knocking out power to much of the area. In fact, power was only restored to this house about 2 hours before our arrival! There were down trees everywhere and wind and rain had blown onto the lovely porch. I was nervous when I landed for my connecting flight and received a message from Uli informing me about the power. But as we were making the drive in, she called to tell me the power had been restored. See, because this property is managed by the owner, she is connected and caring. It is a cozy, lovely house and we were heartbroken to find out that when we return in August, it is booked. A wonderful and welcoming experience!!

Really great stay

5 of 5
The apartment was both really spacious as well as being cozy. We used it as a base to 'leafpeep' during fall as part of our vacaction from the UK. Facilities were of a really good standard and Mike always responded promptly to any queries. We had some difficulty with owners of other apartments making payments from the UK before choosing Mike's, but dealing with Mike was easy and courteous. We found Proctorsville to be a really good base for travelling around the area and Singleton's Store in Proctorsville was so different to how we shop in the UK. A really fabulous part of a great vacation.
