The Notch House was greater than we ever could have imagined, even though we imagined the best! It is an unbelievable deal for an entire week of fun for you and 19 other guests. We began and ended our stay by ourselves - 91 acres and 9 bedrooms, just the two of us. We then had two full days with family and friends full of preparations (tent, tables, flowers, rehearsal...all of the stuff we hadn't realized we'd need to do, etc). The hardest part of it was trying to focus when all we wanted to do was lay in the beautiful lawns, kayak on the incredible lake, play games around the outrageous kitchen bar or gorgeous living room fire, or drink beers around the outdoor fire pit while gazing at the stars. The actual wedding day was perfect in every way. It rained a little, but the property has a large mulch-covered area (where the tent was set up) that was perfect because it kept things from getting muddy. There were several beautiful spots to hold the ceremony - we chose the lower garden and made the beautiful arbor walkway our aisle. There is SO much space (inside and out) that we took advantage of spreading things out. We had hors d'ouvres on the stone patio and cake inside on the huge dining table surrounded by windows. One of my favorite things about the Notch House is that we had no "curfew." We literally danced and played until 4 in the morning. I also loved that we had our own private, separate "honeymoon suite" in the cottage. It was all ours and included a lovely living space with a fireplace and kitchen. We woke Sunday morning (with slight hangovers) and immediately felt rejuvenated by the bright blue sky, fresh mountain air, and realization that we were only halfway through our stay! We spent the next couple of days relaxing with our friends and family, doing all of the things we wanted to do when we were too busy preparing for the big day. Kayaking was phenomenal! The fire pit was used every night (wood provided), even when it was 35 degrees. Every single room in the house, and cottage, is unique and beautifully decorated...and comfortable...and surprisingly sound-proof (many many late nights while others were sleeping). The sound system in the house was excellent and flexible for all our needs. We had the option of playing music in the kitchen and dining room, the living room, outside, or all of the above. We actually used the outdoor sound system to play our "wedding march" as we walked down the aisle. Loud and clear! Everyone cried and LOVED

Our family rented this house last summer, and we had a wonderful experience and we would definitely recommend this place to others. For those looking for a secluded getaway on a stunning lake, this house can't be beat. The views from in the house are wonderful, and every night we experienced a spectacular sunset that our 2 year old still talks about. We found the cottage to be well equipped with everything you might need. We used the grill each night, which works great, and the kitchen has plenty of cookware and plates. We would recommend buying food elsewhere and bringing it, as local stores are somewhat limited in selection. There are not a lot of local high quality restaurants, so you are better off bringing good food with you. We either took the motor boat (which we had no problem using, and we are not boaters) or drove around to the private beach each morning. We soaked up the warm morning sun and had the entire large stretch of private beach all to our own. This could not have been more ideal for our 2 year old daughter, who was able to wade in the shallow water safely and play in the sand. We stayed Labor day week, and the water was crisp but warm enough for all of us to swim. We also enjoyed some great local hikes, especially Wheeler Mountain. We had a very memorable experience at this cottage and I would recommend it to anyone seeking the peace and seclusion of a spectacular place.
