The Best Camp In South Hero Awaits

5 of 5
Fell absolutely in love with this camp. Definitely one of the newer and modern camps located in the area. Inside the camp are big windows that allow lots of ambient light from outside to illuminate the camp inside so little need to turn on any lights inside the camp. At night the windows help provide a nice cross-breeze in the camp when combined with the ceiling fans. A full kitchen with an island which was fantastic.Oven and microwave were great and the refrigerator/freezer was clean and spacious. Even water and ice cubes were provided for our stay which was nice. Both bedrooms had comfortable beds with spacious closets. The master bedroom had a TV which was a big plus. Both bedrooms also had ceiling fanst. The queen size futon was also very comfortable and especially nice to sleep on at night with the cross-breezes. Plenty of chairs inside the camp and the kitchen table was nice and spacious. All cooking utensils, bakeware, drinkware and spices were at our disposal. Keurig coffee maker was also a big plus. Both bathrooms were great and well lit and ventilated with fans. Shower in the master bathroom was awesome and the ½ bathroom was especially handy for guests. Having a washer/dryer onsite was especially handy. Plenty of towels and replacement lines were also available. We really enjoyed the nice spacious deck outside. The front deck is shaded in the morning and the side deck gets more shade in the afternoon. Late afternoon/early evening the trees provide additional shade for the whole deck. It was so very nice having breakfast and supper at the table on the deck and many afternoons spent kicking back in their beach chairs. The lawn was so very big and was great for just about any lawn game you love. The fire pit was great and located between the front of the camp and the lake. You get a fantastic view of the sunset across the lake. Just a small walk down the road and you can catch the sunrise if you’re an early bird. The lower beach area was great, again especially if you have small kids. Lots of sand to dig in and the water was very shallow so your little ones will have a ball. Two kayaks were so fun to use. The owner was available if we ever needed anything fixed or replaced. We noticed that the water pressure had gotten low but the owner came immediately to remedy the issue and all was well again. It’s nice to have an owner that is available when needed. We look forward to coming back.

Weekend Getaway

5 of 5
My friends and I just finished a four day weekend at the cabin. Here are some of the highlights: Location - we were nervous about not staying in downtown Burlington but the location here served our needs perfectly. The backyard goes right on the lake and the views from the screened in patio are amazing (and much better than Burlington). Safe for swimming (if the water isn't too cold, that is). Also, there are two great bike paths (one on to the lake - see: Colchester Causeway) and another one right into Burlington along a scenic nature-filled route). And the place comes with four fully functioning bikes and helmets and a great ping pong table as well. The town has a general store, some cute little restaurants and a big supermarket. So all the basics. Burlington was about a 15-20 minute drive and we even took a taxi in to town on Saturday night for about $25/each way. House - the house was really nice and on a quiet little street. Kitchen and bathroom were simple but clean and comfortable and fully functioning with no issues whatsoever. The highlight of the house is definitely the screened in patio. It was a bit cold in Mid-October but I can imagine how much fun it would be to have breakfast in the morning or a drink in the evening and just enjoy the amazing views on to the lake in the late spring and summertime. Owner - John is a great Host! He was very responsive to any questions I had about the rental beforehand and even quickly responded to a couple of small questions while we were there. He stopped by to make sure we were all settled in as well. Just the right amount of interaction to not feel bothered but to know that if we needed anything he was there to help. All in all a great place.

all wonderful

5 of 5
We now miss hearing the lapping of the lake against the dock and the calling of the loons, and the cheery neighborhood of the point. The cottages are in close proximity and Lisa's parents and other neighbors are part of the pleasure of the place. That said, everyone is respectful of the need or desire for privacy and quiet so there's a nice balance. The cottage is classic 1940s, but also clean, fresh and attractive, with comfortable mattresses and plenty of amenities, from Red Sox broadcasts via NESN to a well-outfitted kitchen. Highly recommended
