Most beautiful vacation home I've ever rented

5 of 5
The pictures did not prepare me for how lovely this place was. Beautiful details throughout the home - rugs, antique books, pretty artwork, great assortment of glassware, etc. It truly looks like a home that someone cares about, not a home furnished with the kind of crappy stuff you'd give your son to furnish his first apartment in college (as most other vacation rentals seems to be.) Although not included in photos here (at least the last time I checked), the hot tub is indeed there on the deck and it was awesome. I was a little worried about renting a home that was on the same property as the owners. I was afraid we wouldn't have privacy. But the hot tub faces away from their house. And the owners were really cool anyway so there was nothing to worry about. The only possibly negative thing I'd mention is the "modified ship's ladder" that takes you to the upstairs room and the bridge connecting them. For some reason, I didn't think it actually was going to be a ladder. It was definitely a ladder. People with limited mobility (or a fear of ladders, as one of my friends has) would not do well with this. As it was, another of my friends (who does not fear ladders) slipped going down the ladder one day and bruised herself pretty badly in a few places. Let me be clear - there is nothing unsafe about this ladder. She had just put lotion on so she was slippery and she slipped off the ladder, several rungs from the bottom. So, make sure that your hands and feet aren't slippery and you should be ok. The bridge that goes between the two rooms is really neat. Another thing to mention is that there isn't a fourth wall in those bedrooms so people staying in them will have less privacy. Overall this house was beautiful. I live in Connecticut, but my fiance and I are now thinking about having our wedding here because the setting was just so lovely. I highly recommend this place and (obviously) I plan to return. My friends all loved it too.

Can't Wait to Return to Island Farm This Summer!

5 of 5
Mike & Deb, We are all counting down the days to our annual trip to Island Farm for Summer 2015. Each year gets better and better. We already have our room assignments and meal chart done and can’t wait for the fishing tournament - this year no cheating (or help from you guys)! Hoping to explore the Island on my “new” bike and stop by the Maple Creemee stand. See you and those fabulous sunsets really soon! The Creager Crew! Swampscott, MA

Cozy and charming house on the lake

5 of 5
We were 9 people staying there, and we had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful and in excellent condition. Specially the main floor, that has a warm living and dinning room, a fully equipped kitchen with all the amenities you may need, a TV room, and a huge covered gallery facing the lake. We enjoyed every detail in this house that has been decorated with special taste. We couldn't enjoy many things being there in winter, but there's a private beach, there are kayaks and bikes. I can't say anything wrong about the place. The only thing was that the heating does not heat all the rooms equally, so after the first night, we realized that some were warmers than others. We had to adjust using the blankets. That's all. I recommend this house to everyone that looks for a family or friends holiday time. I'll definitively go back.
