A wonderful week at the farmhouse!

          5 of 5
We have been renting cottages with our children and grandchildren each summer for the past nine years. Our stay at the farmhouse was everyone's favorite. The farmhouse is roomy and well maintained and the yard is expansive, so that even with three generations in the same house we each had our privacy. The porch swing, tire swing and screened in porch got plenty of use! Though there is a lot to do in the area, we found ourselves spending most of our time on the island. We brought our bicycles and kayaks, so we biked and paddled daily. Though Lake Champlain is large it is relatively calm and there are plenty of nooks and crannies to explore. We also played badminton, horseshoes, pool, ping pong and board games. We swam on warm days and enjoyed a fire on the beach on more than one evening. The house was very well laid out and equipped. The mud/laundry room was handy as was the outdoor shower. The kitchen was easy to cook in and had a big refrigerator (no coolers needed) and lots of counter space. In short, the farmhouse had everything needed for a great vacation.

Perfect lake house on Lake Champlain!

          5 of 5
Since moving away from Vermont in 2000 we have rented nearly every year a home in the Islands for one / two weeks each summer - Vermont and the Islands are special to us. This summer we rented your farmhouse and it was - by far - the best experience we have had renting. The house had everything for a great family vacation - beach, kayaks, bikes, pool table, volleyball / badminton, ping pong, tether ball, air hockey etc. The location was close to Burlington so our local family members could visit often, it was very near to the Grand Isle / Cumberland Head ferry, the grill was excellent, fully stocked linens, dishes, (pretty much anything you would need) etc made the stay very enjoyable. We had friends and family visit all week - at one point we had 10 people sleeping the house and there was plenty of room for all of us. We entertained friends throughout the week and it was a very comfortable place to enjoy the sunsets (porch and deck were fantastic). The young children enjoyed the DVD player , puzzles and games...the teenagers were very happy with the high speed internet (fastest we have experienced in Vermont!. This is a great lake house in a perfect location - possibly the best rental property in the Islands......We hope to rent again next summer. Thanks Steve, Chris and family

          Something for EVERYONE!

          5 of 5
The Island Farm was the perfect retreat for my extended family. When I started planning a summer vacation for our family I was challenged to find a place to stay that would have something for everyone….grandparents who prefer a place to relax out of the sun, 4 parents who wanted to be in the sun and be active and 6 (yes, six) kids between the ages of 9 and 14 with varied interests. When we found the listing for The Island Farm, we knew we had found a gem but did not even realize until we got there just how perfect it was for the twelve of us. The Farm was so much fun for young and old. The kids were up and out to see the animals and feed them at 6:30 in the morning. We would find them walking the baby goats on leashes, holding bunnies and running with the newborn miniature pony as if it were the family dog. They also found a litter of kittens and enjoyed helping the momma take good care of them. The lake with the dock was perfect for jumping, fishing and our favorite, watching the beautiful sunsets. The paddle boat, canoe and row boat all got a workout while we were there. We rode bikes, went on interesting walks and enjoyed cooking together in the well equipped kitchen. We loved being able to sit as a family to eat at the dining room table that accommodated all of us. We had family whiffle ball tournaments out on the back lawn, frozen drinks on the screened in porch, made s’mores at the fire pit and watched fireworks over the lake. We did not leave The Island Farm all week except to run out for groceries. There was plenty of bed space and it was so nice to be away and not have anyone sleeping on floors, couches or pull-outs. There are plenty of bathrooms and never a wait which is a great thing when you have twelve people staying under one roof. Debbie and Mike, the owners, were so gracious and made us feel very welcome. I enjoyed chatting with them everyday and they could not do enough to help us with anything we needed...from borrowing a frisbee to telling us about the local history. We can’t wait to go back!
