Amazing vacation rental exceeded our expectations!

5 of 5
Our family had a fantastic summer vacation here. We looked at a lot of other properties but this exceeded our expectations. The house was stocked with everything that we needed . It was extremely clean and cozy. The property is so private and the views are amazing. We had nightly campfires at the waters edge and loved swimming and fishing off of the docks. We are already planning our next summer vacation here again. Thank You !!!

BEST RENTAL IN KILLINGTON

5 of 5
This was such a fantastic place to rent for Killington. It's less than 5 minutes to the mountain, and an easy ride right down Killington Road to the lodges. It's near everything! More importantly, it's HUGE. 3 floors, big living room with fireplace (and included firewood), nice kitchen, bathroom on every floor, huge master, big windows with lake view. This neighborhood includes of a big indoor pool with hot tub (very nice after a day of skiing), weight room, saunas, etc. Lots of room to spread out, especially if you have kids. The owner is great to deal with, and returns emails very quickly. We couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Cozy, sunny getaway for 2

5 of 5
We loved our week on the western shore of Lake St. Catherine. The almost countless windows facing the water gave the small cottage a real feeling of airiness and light. On the clearest mornings, the sunrise over the hills to the east was spectacular, with the colorful sky reflected in the tranquil water practically at our feet. The cottage is comfortably furnished and the kitchen well equipped for even a rather ambitious cook on vacation. There were spices, oil, etc., on hand, so we didn't need to buy all ingredients, though we replaced things we emptied. The bathroom lacks a tub, but the spacious, beautifully-tiled shower was very nice, and discouraged wasteful water consumption. The bedroom was grand, the "cathedral" ceiling adding to the feeling of freedom. Ample closet and built-in bureau space provided plenty of places to hide away the typical clutter of travel. Outdoor space is limited to a small, well-shaded patio and a narrow strip between the cottage and the lakeshore, but the wrap-around windows in the living room-dining room area reduced our sense that we needed to be outside all the time. The cottage's location is quiet, except for weekenders zooming around the lake in power boats. Arriving on Saturday, that was really only an issue for us on Sunday. Weekdays were tranquil. I gather from lake activity that fishing is popular. Several interesting attractions are within 30-45 minutes drive, though there's a limited amount to do much closer. A winery practically at the top of the shore road made for a nice diversion, as did the farmers' market in Poultney, and a few very interesting shops. The used book store on Main Street in Poultney was a treasure-trove, and Nancy's bakery and café dished up some amazing homey baked goods. We even ordered an apple cake with maple frosting from her to take away to a family picnic the day we left. Dorset has a great playhouse; more than ample shopping can be found in Manchester Center (including North Shire Books, a spectacular store). We hiked in the Green Mountains, visited Revolutionary War sites, stopped in some artists' studios, and bought farmstead cheese. The gravel recreational trail that runs north-south through Poultney to Castleton is lovely, though not for narrow road tires on bicycles.
