Was 100% Perfect

5 of 5
We are a family of 4 from Boston that was looking to get away to a small charming Vermont town for a few days to unwind and enjoy the serenity this brings. This experience was 100% perfect. The house itself is very comfortable, large and accommodating with a nice back yard and picnic area right on a troutstream. The town is charming. With small kids, we wanted to be near amenities and this town had everything we needed. Great store a few doors down (We went there a few times a day just for fun...) Diner across the street and Library, playground and businesses nearby. Red Sky trading Co. in town was awesome. We went to a local talent show at the Town Function Hall and were treated like members of the community. Many other interesting towns nearby and proximity to Canada (We took a day trip to Magog via Newport) were also really fun. I look forward to returning

Perfect Retreat!

5 of 5
I booked this property as a surprise birthday party for my husband's 50th. We had 11 people staying (5 adults, 6 kids under 16) so needed a large home to accommodate everyone. I've booked on HomeAway quite a bit and this was one of the nicest properties we've stayed at. The listing is perfect, but the pictures don't do this home justice. Everything is super clean and designed and decorated with thought and care. The bedrooms and bathrooms are huge and plenty of room for larger groups without feeling claustrophobic. The home is well stocked with plenty of towels, kitchen gadgets and reading material. The owners are phenomenal and very responsive to all my incessant questions and pestering. They even had a nice gift and birthday card for my husband, which was unexpected and a pleasant surprise. The welcome binder is fantastic and answers any questions you may have. You will want to bring food with you as the closest major grocery store is about an 40 -50 minutes away. There are a couple of small convenience stores for dry goods and some frozen foods, all are reasonably priced. Definitely hit Brault's meat market - prices are phenomenal and the native steaks were superb. I would definitely and strongly recommend this property for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway. The area is very remote, but welcoming for people who want to get away and enjoy nature. The skies at night are beautiful! The internet service is spotty, but to be expected due to the location. I can't say how much fun we had this weekend at this property. Plenty of room for the kids to run and play outside and a beautiful home for the adults to enjoy. It was absolute perfection and hope to return this winter to enjoy Jay Peak skiing.

Amazing time at the Buck Hill Lodge

5 of 5
A group of us stayed at the lodge this past weekend for a winter ski trip. We had 4 couples and a baby, and the lodge was the perfect size. The two bedrooms on the main floor are a good size and one has a double/single bunk bed, so plenty of room in there. The main bedroom on the second floor is huge and had more than enough room for a pack and play crib for the baby (realistically could have fit two in there). The 4th couple took the loft futon, which left the entire living area available for the evening (no one sleeping on the pull-out). The kitchen/dining/den area is a perfect layout to relax with friends, alowing those in the kitchen to still be part of the great times. Really, it was one of the best layouts we've seen in a while, and we rent at least 3-4 places per year similar size and location to this. We enjoyed relaxing on the main level so much that we never even ventured downstairs to use the pool table or darts. In addition, the owners obviously have (or had) young kids because there are tons of books, movies, and even some toys and outdoor equipment for them. We brought a portable high chair but didn't need to use it because there was one in the lodge. The drive to Jay Peak (if that's your destination like ours was) is a good 20 minutes but there are two great little general stores (Westfield and Troy) under 10 minutes away where you can get all of your supplies. The setting of the lodge is gorgeous: a feeling of peaceful isolation which is sometimes much needed after a few days on the hill. The lodge was ultra clean, extremely well supplied (pretty much any kitchen appliance or utensil is available), and beautifully finished. The wood construction gives so much character that everyone took a while just to explore when they arrived. The two bathrooms are also huge and really nicely finished. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone, and would hope to stay here again in the future!
