An magnificent location by the lack Champlain.

4 of 5
The location of the property is magnificent, right on the lack with no obstructions or neighbors in view. The pictures from the add do not give real justice to the beauty of this charming cottage. The patio is right on the water and we had a great time watching the sun set each night (right before to be devoured by mosquitoes - bring mosquitoes repellent). The house is extremely clean and a pleasure to stay in. We miss it! However the price is a little high for not having any bicycles, kayaks, hammock, or even long chairs available. There are no place to rent any around without driving miles. The rental includes a pedal boat but the lack has waves and it is hard to go anywhere. The island doesn't offer much around and we had to drive to get anywhere. There were 4 of us and we would have enjoyed letting go of the car for a few days and just bicycle around instead or lounge in long chairs at our rental. We could swim from our rental shore but there were a better place to swim at a send beach a few miles away (car ride was necessary though). Wish there were an island calendar of events around the house so that we wouldn't have missed the only once a week dancing event at the tea house next to us. But we missed it as we arrived on the Saturday night and we didn't know it was happening the next day. We didn't see our host very much but only once. She appears to be a kind person and responded immediately to any questions we had by phone or email. When we informed her that the propane tank from he grill was empty she came immediately to replace it so that we could go ahead and cook outside while enjoying the great view. We really appreciated her quick responses. I would recommend this rental but bring bicycles, kayaks... or anything you think you would enjoy practicing beside watching the sun set and listening to the sound of the waves.

Great Vermont Lake House

5 of 5
We loved our stay in The Annex on Isle La Motte. The island is secluded, but it is not desolate. We went to Fisk Farm for Sunday afternoon tea our first full day; it is an easy walk away. The tea and sweets were delightful, the crowd was small and friendly, and the music was excellent considering the intimate surroundings and the price. (Free!) It took us too long to discover the South End Cafe & Hall's Orchard, about a mile away, with great coffee and more. The maple creamees at the local stand was another unanticipated treat. The island is a cyclist's paradise, but we left our bikes at home. No problem, though; Allenholme Farm in South Hero (about 30 minutes away) rented us bikes and we were able to spend a day exploring on two wheels. We took another day to go to the Adirondacks. Poke o' Moonshine is one of several nice hikes less than 90 minutes away, with a fire tower on top that affords spectacular views of the high peaks and a fair chunk of Lake Champlain, too. We stopped at Rulf's Orchard, right off I-87 just south of Plattsburgh, on the way home and picked some blueberries. This all left plenty of time to stay at the lake house and enjoy the shore. Most houses on the west shore of Isle La Motte have the road between them and the lake, but not this one. The lake is right out the door and the expansive shoreline is just as advertised. We used the row boat to have some fun on the water, too. The bedrooms are cozy, tucked under the eaves, the beds are comfortable, and the bathroom is clean and functional, though not large. The kitchen is serviceable, too; cooked almost all our meals using the pots, pans, and utensils on hand. (The grill is great!) We brought a huge jigsaw puzzle to work on when it rained (and it did rain!); there was lots of room for it on the spacious dining room table. Don't choose this lake house for the furnishings, which are clean and well-tended, but not modern or luxurious. Choose this one for the location! It is truly a gem. Spots like this are usually outside our price range, so this one is a treasure. Downsides? It's a half-an-hour to a supermarket, so best to bring food with you. The sound on the TV was muddy, so we watched movies on the computers we brought. The internet was plenty fast enough to stream HD video. Can't close without mentioning Kathy, the owner. She was hospitable and helpful throughout our stay. We feel fortunate to have stumbled on this place, and to have made her acquaintance.

Terrific Rental

5 of 5
My wife and I spent a week in Little House in July 2014 and absolutely loved everything about it! The home afforded everything a discerning person would expect from a well-appointed rental-home. Not only is the house a wonderfully comfortable place to stay the environment in which it sits is magnificent! We hope to come back again!!! The rental was well- worth the price and the owners were wonderfully accomodating hosts!
