Great Place- Great Vacation

5 of 5
My wife and I stayed in the Little House for a week in early September 2014. The house itself is quaint and immaculate. It has everything you'll need. We used it as a base to venture out and take in all the beauty of Vermont. We even drove to Montreal for an overnight stay. We take our bikes on vacations (they have bikes at the house for you to use). Bikes are a great way to see and experience Vermont. Montreal is a great city to bike. Its only a little over an hours drive from Isle la Motte. The city has what seems like endless dediated, paved bike paths. We biked Isle la Motte and the other islands. We biked the Missisquoi Rails to Trails. Isle la Motte and this house proved to be a great choice for a "get away from it all vacation". You can enjoy the simplicity, unpretentious natural beauty and quietness it offers. You can be active and explore. You can be rejuvinated as we were. Alex was so accommodating and a joy to meet. What a combination for a great vacation for this North Carolina couple!

A wonderful week at the farmhouse!

5 of 5
We have been renting cottages with our children and grandchildren each summer for the past nine years. Our stay at the farmhouse was everyone's favorite. The farmhouse is roomy and well maintained and the yard is expansive, so that even with three generations in the same house we each had our privacy. The porch swing, tire swing and screened in porch got plenty of use! Though there is a lot to do in the area, we found ourselves spending most of our time on the island. We brought our bicycles and kayaks, so we biked and paddled daily. Though Lake Champlain is large it is relatively calm and there are plenty of nooks and crannies to explore. We also played badminton, horseshoes, pool, ping pong and board games. We swam on warm days and enjoyed a fire on the beach on more than one evening. The house was very well laid out and equipped. The mud/laundry room was handy as was the outdoor shower. The kitchen was easy to cook in and had a big refrigerator (no coolers needed) and lots of counter space. In short, the farmhouse had everything needed for a great vacation.

Clean, Spacious, Great Lawns, Spectacular View

5 of 5
Our family had a wonderful stay at this spacious, clean, and fully-stocked house. The kids (5 & 3 yrs.) loved the large lawns, the shed full of toys, the paddleboat, inflatables, and all the room in the house. Croquet, baseball, frisbees, life jackets, badminton, golf clubs and balls, all kinds of fun stuff to play with and great lawns to do it on. The screened in porch is a great resting spot (hammock) and we used the outside fire pit often. The house is relatively new and so it is very clean and orderly, with nearly any household need accounted for. We have rented a couple lake houses in this area and this is the cleanest, neatest one we've seen. If you are tired of "camp" style houses then this may be for you. The waterside view is spectacular with a quiet little bay looking north toward Canada. The water was nice; slightly weedy, rocky bottom, very shallow. The only drawback is the shallowness of the water (the lake was down when we were there -not sure how the level has change since) which made swimming a little awkward and made it difficult to use a boat. We tried to rent a pontoon boat and were told that we weren't allowed to by the boat rental place (North Hero Marina - not recommended) that we couldn't because it was too shallow in our bay. This was a bit of a bummer but we were able to rent a boat at a different location, just not able to bring it up to the house. The owners told me this was unusual and that they usually have plenty of guests keep boats at the dock so I would just be wary of this situation and maybe arrange something in advance. The cement boat ramp would make it easy to launch your own boat, however. We also rented stand-up paddle boards at Hero's Welcome which is a great place to rent things as well as a fantastic lunch spot and tourist shop. The owners Don and Mary were extremely accommodating and friendly - and accessible - and overall I would highly recommend this house to any family.
