Perfect Getaway House...

5 of 5
I can say without hesitation that we would stay here again - this house was exactly what we needed to getaway from the rat race of the "real world." The listing is extremely accurate and honest - and the owners are accommodating, beyond friendly, and helpful at all times. We stayed for 3 weeks - and never once tired of the location, or felt any desire to go home - this place became "home." The front porch is perfect in the mornings to look out at Arrowhead Lake, which is only a short walk through the woods away. It was a great place to start the day with a cup of coffee and a book - in the evenings, you can sit on the deck chairs or have a fire in the fire pit while the sun goes down across the lake. There are train tracks nearby - I actually loved what this added to it (maybe because I love train travel). Only went by a few times per day - maybe once per night during "sleep hours." They have kayaks and canoes to use - which is a great activity to enjoy some wildlife. This location is perfect - you are only a short drive away from Lake Champlain and Burlington, yet not in a "touristy" area - a grocery store is nearby, a farm with fresh produce for sale depending on the season of your visit, and maybe 3 miles from Interstate 89 for quick access to a large number of mountains in the Green Mountain Range for some incredibly fun day hikes. If it happens to actually rain, boredom was not an issue - the porch still made for a great spot to read or watch the rain on the lake, they had puzzles and board games to play, and a flat-screen TV with DirectTV access (not that we even once attempted to use it). The kitchen had everything you would need to cook meals daily, and the house was in perfect condition and completely clean. Recommended local activities: Niquette Bay State Park (15 min), Grand Isle/Lake Champlain (15-30 min), Burlington (30 min), Mt. Hunger (50 min), Camel's Hump/Mt. Ellen/Mt. Mansfield/Mt. Abraham (all about an hour or so). Ski resorts also within an hour or so depending on your season. Great place - great people - stay here.
