                                GREAT IN SEPTEMBER

                                5 of 5
The cottage had everything we needed for our relaxing stay. Lake Fairlee is in a country setting but also very close to I-91. We were able to enjoy many activities; fishing, canoeing and day trips. This was the only chance my husband had to fish this year and he was very happy with the bass he caught in the lake. It was great being able to eat on the screened front porch regardless of the weather, seeing the lake and wildlife. Having a washer and dryer available meant no laundry accumulating. We had a couple of cool nights when the fireplace and heaters came in handy.

GORGEOUS LAKEVIEW COTTAGE HAS EVERYTHING YOU NEED!

                                5 of 5
If you ever wanted to find a destination so secluded and yet easy to get to like it's just around the corner from your house, this is it! The rolling hills and farmland of the Upper Valley give way to small peaks and deep gorges along the Connecticut River. Lake Morey is nestled in valley that gives you all the privacy you could ask for and still be connected to the locals. The spacious cottage is perfectly situated on the eastern shore of the lake. When we arrived we were greeted with a bottle of wine and the house was all prepared. Everything was where he said it would be and just about anything we needed was easy to find. This is a classic early 20th century cottage with modern upgrades on the main floor. From the beautiful granite countertops and oak cabinets, to the large bathroom with shower and washer/dryer, to the three couches and the Vermont castings wood stove in the living room there is plenty of space for any large family. We had four adults and four children ranging from 2-10yo, and for a few nights six adults, never feeling cramped. Then there is my favorite room, the four season porch with a long dinning table that seats 14 comfortably. The room is a great place to enjoy family sized meals, play any one of the dozens of classic board games, or just gaze at the lake directly in front of the large glass sliders. And off the four season porch is a wrap around deck with lots of comfy chairs and recliners. At night it is a great spot to camp in the corner by the fire pit and roast smores and just listen to the peaceful tranquility of the lake. We visited for one week in late August and thus the lake was not at all busy. The Lake Morey Resort was quiet all week except for Labor Day weekend. And the Lake Morey Country Club was as well easy to get a tee time. It is a convenient amenity and not a bad little tract in good shape for a resort course. Another close amenity is the Montshire Museum of Science, about ten minutes south. It is a great place to take the kids. Well now to the crown jewel, the lake. It is five miles around and only about a half mile wide. With the two kayaks and the canoe at the cottage there are lots of adventures to be had. Or, just a short paddle, you can go to the Fairlee town beach which has a shallow sandy swimming area, park with swings and play structures, and bathrooms. The shallow water dock off the cottage has four Adirondack chairs and another fire pit. We also took the kids to the Fairlee Motel Drive-ln, a must

PERFECT PLACE TO GET AWAY FROM IT ALL!

                                5 of 5
The property was even more beautiful than the photos! The 5 boys had the time of their lives! The area is more secluded than I thought it would be, but we were able to get almost everything we needed at Bakers General Store in town (5 minute drive). We were never in Vermont before and were awed by its beauty. Of course, a trip to Vermont would not be complete without a trip to Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Factory (about an hour and a half drive-call first to make sure they are manufacturing that day). We also went to Peyton Place Resturant-superb, The Hungry Bear, Whippi Dip and the great Fairlee Diner. Another highlight was going to the Drive-In movie in Fairlee-a first for everyone! The property was immaculate! The owners and their daughter were lovely, helpful and kind. The owners took care of every detail and were so thoughtful! Their dogs and a neighbors' dog, Gracie (all water dogs), just added to the fun! It may seem like we went out a lot but most of the time we just went as far as Baker's General Store then back home to the cottages again. It was the most relaxing, beautiful and fun vacation we ever had. I would give Alpine and Lakeside my highest recommendation!
