GREAT COUNTRY SETTING

5 of 5
The Caleb Atwell House is a wonderful retreat from the busy world. It is complete with natural beauty, a private pond and expansive lawns, all supported by views of the wild unspoiled hills and mountains of Vermont. This lovely rural home is clean and well maintained. The beautiful antique wide floor boards, beamed ceilings and wonderful decor create a home with lots of character. All beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was nicely stocked with any utensils, place settings, pots or pans you would ever need to prepare a meal. Off the beaten path yet very accessible, the home has nearby hiking and scenery to gaze at. We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing here We definitely look to return to this house again when we visit Vermont!

A superb gem-of-a-house for the whole family

5 of 5
After driving a good 5hrs+ straight, it was a relief to finally reach our destination - and what a destination this place is! Located along a quiet Vermont country backroad, this splendid property has true charm and character in buckets, from the koi pond (which my kids loved, especially being able to feed the fish) to the wood-burning stoves keeping us cosy warm to the very large collection of books to the netted porch with relaxing views of the lovely garden...I could go on but don't want to spoil it for you! There are many activities to enjoy in the area, catering to a wide variety of needs not least including a scenic drive up Stowe mountain road and through Smugglers Notch, eating out in Montpelier, tour of the Ben & Jerrys factory (plus free samples!), visiting the nearby maple sugar farms for delicious wares, hiking some of the many trails available, Rock of Ages in nearby Barre, etc. We would very much love to come back here, and from the look of how far in advance the bookings can get it seems a lot of others are agreeing just how lovely Cabot Farmhouse really is for a pleasant and enjoyable vacation, whatever time of year. One thing I would highly recommend is DownStreet Eats on the main road through nearby Cabot. We ate breakfast there on our last morning and wished we had found it at the start of our holiday - superb tasty food in a welcoming and well set out location.

Beautiful, quiet house next to a stream

5 of 5
I visited Warren for a summer weekend with a group of friends, and we couldn't have been happier with this house. It feels very much like a lived-in home; the kitchen is fully stocked with all the cookware, spices and dinnerware you might have at your own home. The back patio is right next to the river, and is a fantastic place to sit and enjoy a beer while the dog/kids/semi-inebriated adults play in the river. The wood-fired grill was a cool touch, and had wood chopped and ready to go when we arrived. I admit I was a little put off by the high security deposit, but the owners are being cautious. It is a nice house with nice furniture and amenities - not your typical, cheap rental stuff - so they feel the need to protect themselves. Our group did not have any issues.
