Great Stay in Family Oriented Home

5 of 5
For families looking for a fun oriented alternative to a cookie cutter resort, you should look into this wonderful home. During our stay, we had our family and a friends' family share the home. There was plenty of space (4 bedrooms, plus a neat bunk style room for 2 kids). Easily could sleep 10. Sugarbush ski area is a mere 10 mins away. This is an owner occupied home, so do not expect this home to be brand new (i.e., sterile), but take comfort that the home was clean and well kept. One of the best aspects of the home is the care taken by the owner to make the stay a good one. She walked us through the home upon arrival, pointed out the systems (like heating and entertainment) and made herself available when needed. One of the best aspects is that the home is so well suited for children; toys, movies, kids books galore. One caveat is that owners do have a beautiful cat that stays in the home during one's stay. We had some trepidation about this as one of our party is allergic to cats. However, the cat stayed mostly to herself in the basement and caused no issues. No allergic reactions in our case, but do be forewarned.

Exactly what we wanted!

5 of 5
There was no Satellite or cable TV and no cell reception, and that was fine with us! My wife and I and our two teenage kids spent an incredibly relaxing week on Mirror Lake. The canoes and kayaks were used almost every day, as was the fire pit down by the lake. I caught blue gills, smallmouth and pickerel either right from the dock or while out on the canoe. We also saw a bald eagle twice grabbing a bite to eat right out of the lake. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. And thanks to the card and board games we had something to keep us occupied at the end of the day. Local dining was excellent. Sarducci's in Montpelier was fantastic. We of course hit Ben & Jerry's which was only 30 min away. A trip to Burlington for shopping and lunch was a great way to spend the day too. The Farmhouse Tap & Grill gets everything local (as do most restaurants in VT) and I had one of the best burgers ever at the Taphouse. Doug was very responsive and communicated regularly which was a plus for us after a rather poor experience with another house in VT last year. Overall we highly recommend the Mirror Lake house and will certainly be returning!

Beyond Expectations!! Absolutely perfect!

5 of 5
This place is absolutely beautiful! It is warm and welcoming from the moment you walk through the door and just keeps getting better! The owners are wonderful - they seem to truly enjoy sharing their home with guests..and you do feel like a guest and not a renter! They spared no detail in the house - beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms, a giant gourmet kitchen, and great room with an awesome fireplace, surrounded by great books and music...all you need to do is supply the people, wine and conversation. It is a great place for a couples getaway or for families traveling together. The kids (teens and pre-teen) loved having the lower level "dorm room" to themselves and adults enjoyed the privacy of a ensuite bedroom! We are already planning our next visit!
