Our family just returned from a week stay at Scott's comfortable and casual house. After a day of skiing, we would stack the wood stove with firewood, put dinner in the oven, and plop down on comfy sofas to watch the sunset over the mountains and the television. We actually were there for the Superbowl - the flat screen tv was awesome. Every night we would chose a DVD from Scott's collection (library). Great movies - Caddyshack, Wall-e, The Man on the Moon. The house was always toasty warm and, during a blizzard, we were comforted that we would not loose electricity as the house generated its own. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. And again, that view of the mountains…waking up to watch the full moon setting. Skiing was perfect, and the ride over the mountain never a problem. During the blizzard we stayed home and went cross country skiing on the Vast trail. We are now thinking of when we can return. Thursdays at Mt. Ellen are $30 and we have one more ticket on our quad pack!

GREAT COUNTRY SETTING

The Caleb Atwell House is a wonderful retreat from the busy world. It is complete with natural beauty, a private pond and expansive lawns, all supported by views of the wild unspoiled hills and mountains of Vermont. This lovely rural home is clean and well maintained. The beautiful antique wide floor boards, beamed ceilings and wonderful decor create a home with lots of character. All beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was nicely stocked with any utensils, place settings, pots or pans you would ever need to prepare a meal. Off the beaten path yet very accessible, the home has nearby hiking and scenery to gaze at. We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing here We definitely look to return to this house again when we visit Vermont!
