A fabulous time by all

5 of 5
We couldn't have picked a better home and location! Heidi's home is so warm and inviting, as is Heidi herself! The house had everything we were looking for and more. Our idea for this family vacation was to get away from it all and have the kids experience some of the country life, farms and local food. We got it all and then some! First off, the house has everything you need; A well stocked kitchen (we cooked local food every day), comfortable bedrooms, a warm family room with that great wood burning stove, awesome sledding hills and a beautiful woodsy location... I can keep going! If you are looking for local fresh food, you have everything you need just a few steps away... Many of the local farms are on the main road down from the house, where we were able to visit and purchase eggs, meat, poultry and fresh maple syrup. The Woodstock Farmers Market is not too far as well, and there you can get fish, fruits, veggies and many other staples. Although it was still early in the spring season and some things were closed (like Billings Farm), we still managed to keep the kids occupied by visiting other local farms, museums, VINS, maple sugaring, and doing lots of sledding! The back of the house has an awesome hill and when it snowed, the driveway was even better! We had a memorable experience, and are already talking about going back!

Great Place, Great Deal

5 of 5
This review is a bit belated by 1.5 years, regardless...my family and I were in Barnard for a wedding in Oct of 2013 and stayed in this cabin. It was perfectly ample for our small family and could accommodate much more. It was a comfortable and simple cabin with everything we could need. The wood stove was kid proofed and we found toys here and there for toddler fun. Wood was also readily available to keep the cold at bay during the late October nights. We live in the high Sierras of California and are quite used to chilly nights and making fires. Some might consider this a rustic feature but we felt right at home. We will definitely book here again for our next trip to the area.

Wedding family

5 of 5
My daughter was getting married in Barnard and my immediate family was looking for a comfy house on the lake in which to relax when not wedding planning. This sweet little place fit the bill perfectly. On arrival, everything was ready for us,, clean as a whistle and perfectly landscaped. The owner Nancy, was right there when we arrived and was most hospitable. Told us that if there was anything we needed, just ask. Beautiful king sized loft bedroom upstairs with the best view of Silver Lake. Canoes and kayaks at our disposal which was a must for this quiet little lake. Everything was provide. All we had to do was bring ourselves. We really felt that Nancy invited us into her home which was most endearing.I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a small town Vermont vacation.
