Wonderful time!

5 of 5
This was a Holiday gathering for 12 members of my family aged between 14 and 76. Everyone had a wonderful time and the game room was definitely a big hit eventhough some of the equipment shows signs of age (more particularly the pool table and the air hockey table). Some darts would need to be added for the dart board game (if you like to play darts, then it may be a good idea to bring your own). The selection of board games is just amazing! The weather was mild and my dad who has a snowmobile would have liked more snow. However, the mild weather made it possible for us to spend a lot of time outdoors and to take nice long walks in the neighborhood. Some of us went to the Holiday Inn down the road in order to use their swimming pool and sauna ($). We had intended on using the fire pit on New Year's Eve. Wood was available, but needed to be cut and we never found an axe. We will definitely remember to bring one next time! The kitchen in the cabin is very well equipped and the 2 leaves found under the king size bed made it possible for all 12 of us to sit together at dinner time. We would have liked to be able to use the loft, where there is an extra bed; however, the contract stipulated that this was not possible due to fire safety laws (???) The place is very clean and well maintained. Having 4 bathrooms was definitely a big plus! We were also thrilled to have 2 refrigerators with everyone bringing enough food (and drinks) for 4 days! We would not hesitate to rent this property again in the future. We all had a great time! Thanks for allowing families to enjoy your property!

Perfect

5 of 5
We stayed at the house over the Thanksgiving holiday this year - extended family, including in-laws and children. The house was perfect - enough space for everyone to have their space but still be together. Kitchen was great for cooking such a big meal and table was great for a large group. Hot tub was really nice too! Loved being able to visit the alpaca farm down the road and Woodstock was only about 25 minutes away.

Great Family Getaway

5 of 5
What a quaint Vermont spot! We loved it. This is what a vacation should be. It's clear the owners have taken great care to renovate their sweet farmhouse. Contained all the amenities needed for a relaxing, carefree stay. Our goal was to teach the kids how to ski - we had 3 excellent days at Ascutney. Loved the children's clinics - even though it was Christmas vacation week, there were no crowds, they received loads of attention, and had a ball on the slopes. An easy 15 minute ride door to door. We also conquered the sledding hill just across the street (hope the neighbors did not mind!) and thoroughly enjoyed the skating pond directly in our backyard. Left Reading feeling as though our family had stepped out of a Norman Rockwell review! The owner's assessment was very clear. This IS a farmhouse. Not alot of glitz and glamour - downtown Reading can be missed in the blink of an eye. Just grab your slippers for the cool mornings on the hardwoods and prepare to simply relax and enjoy family dinners and game nights in the HUGE kitchen following the day's adventures!
