Great week-end on the lake

5 of 5
Had a great week-end in this house. Very warm atmosphere room for everyone to relax and enjoy. The double living room configuration is great for a larger group. Very clean place too. Michel (was there mid January 2015)

Clean, Spacious, Great Lawns, Spectacular View

5 of 5
Our family had a wonderful stay at this spacious, clean, and fully-stocked house. The kids (5 & 3 yrs.) loved the large lawns, the shed full of toys, the paddleboat, inflatables, and all the room in the house. Croquet, baseball, frisbees, life jackets, badminton, golf clubs and balls, all kinds of fun stuff to play with and great lawns to do it on. The screened in porch is a great resting spot (hammock) and we used the outside fire pit often. The house is relatively new and so it is very clean and orderly, with nearly any household need accounted for. We have rented a couple lake houses in this area and this is the cleanest, neatest one we've seen. If you are tired of "camp" style houses then this may be for you. The waterside view is spectacular with a quiet little bay looking north toward Canada. The water was nice; slightly weedy, rocky bottom, very shallow. The only drawback is the shallowness of the water (the lake was down when we were there -not sure how the level has change since) which made swimming a little awkward and made it difficult to use a boat. We tried to rent a pontoon boat and were told that we weren't allowed to by the boat rental place (North Hero Marina - not recommended) that we couldn't because it was too shallow in our bay. This was a bit of a bummer but we were able to rent a boat at a different location, just not able to bring it up to the house. The owners told me this was unusual and that they usually have plenty of guests keep boats at the dock so I would just be wary of this situation and maybe arrange something in advance. The cement boat ramp would make it easy to launch your own boat, however. We also rented stand-up paddle boards at Hero's Welcome which is a great place to rent things as well as a fantastic lunch spot and tourist shop. The owners Don and Mary were extremely accommodating and friendly - and accessible - and overall I would highly recommend this house to any family.

Great family get away location!

5 of 5
We rented the entire place for our whole family for a week and it was amazing! There was 10 of us and we had plenty of space - all with our own bedrooms and most with our own bathrooms. We love to cook and eat big meals together and the dining area and kitchen were great for that. The kitchen has this cool AGA stove which was amazing to cook on once you got the hang of it. There was plenty of stuff to do right on the property - canoe, bike rides, walks - plus you aren't far from Montreal, Burlington and other cool activities like Audible Chasm and the indoor water park at Jay Peak. But if you are looking for the hustle and bustle of a crowded tourist area this isn't for you. Grocery stores and shopping aren't close but if you prepare correctly you hardly notice. Guarantee we will be returning for another family vacation.
