This is our 4th time to stay with Stewart Mountain Lodging, and our third time in the Wild Wood cabin. We started coming to Sundance 4 years ago in search of a quiet getaway. We found the area to be just what we were looking for: The properties (both that we have stayed in) were peaceful and surrounded by trees and a flowing stream. The Sundance resort was also just what we needed: a small mountain for our daughter to learn to ski on, but still offering terrific service (all our ski instructors over the years have been genuine and friendly.) Parking, to ski shop to slopes to lunch, all just steps away. This just a 2 minute drive from Wild Wood.
Wild Wood itself is a great property with many thoughtful features (whole house audio, gourmet kitchen, lots of windows and heated floors), but the real reason we keep coming back is the service we get from the folks at Stewart Mountain Lodging family:
-Our recent trip had us coming in on the tail end of ski season and some of the other winter activities had already closed up (Soldier Hollow tubing) and we were in search of other activities. The team helped us identify some great options including a terrific fishing guide, kid friendly hikes, and and adventure outfitter nearby. They even helped us set up a wild animal rescue experience with a nearby non-profit so our daughter could learn more about the owls they were rehabbing.
-Over the years any issues or needs are handled promptly: for example, we ran out of propane mid-grill, they brought a bottle over in a few minutes, coffee maker stopped working, it was replaced within the hour.
One thing to consider on the Wild Wood property: the bedrooms upstairs are spacious, but one of them is open to the downstairs. Hasn't been a problem for our family arrangement but if you have any questions on the layout the folks at SML can help guide you through the layout, and will offer alternative properties if this isn't a good fit. We're planning another trip with a larger group and are going through this process now with them.
