Spacious and comfortable

4 of 5
My husband and I met his two daughters in Kanab for a family visit and the opportunity to visit the Grand Canyon. All together there were five adults and one four year old. The house is large enough that we never felt crowded, and had plenty of space to be comfortable for almost 5 days together. I will caution that we could all easily hear each other run showers or flush toilette, so with 6 people there was a little bit of a noise problem in the mornings and at night. All appliances worked fine and it was very helpful having a washer and dryer. We found the beds very comfortable, with very nice quality sheets. Pillows were flatter than I like, but there are lots of them, along with extra bedding available, if needed. Plenty of nice thick towels, too. There is a little of just about everything you need in the house, as far as laundry soap and for washing dishes. You might pack along paper plates and sandwich bags, they always come in handy. The kitchen had some of the necessities, such as basic seasonings and cooking oils, coffee, sugar. The home-made peach jam and rolls were a really sweet treat, too! Kanab is one of the closest communities to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, but keep in mind it is still almost a two hour drive to reach the Canyon itself. Zion is much closer and there are tons of other great places in the area for hiking and out door activities. We all had a great meal together at the Rocking Vee Restaurant, with a waitress there who was very attentive to the 4 yr old. Kanab has two large grocery stores, and a few of the fast food chains. The Three Bears is a great lunch stop, definitely a requirement to stop there for ice cream.

Wonderful Home Away From Home

5 of 5
We stayed here for one week while visiting the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and Zion National Park. The day we had to leave, we went to Bryce Canyon. We loved the property, house, location, and views...Wow! We felt right at home in the house. It was very comfortable. I loved how the roof overhung the house and windows so that even when it rained, you could leave the doors/windows open. It is a quiet property, even though it is near town. Their deck is a great place for star-gazing. Three of the beds were used and they were all very comfortable. The linens were nice and easy to find. The owners did a great job in leaving information about the area and places of interest. We didn't have a lot of spare time on our vacation but we really liked the old West town of Kanab. We enjoyed the museum at the Perry Lodge and the old movie in the barn (in the evening) behind the Perry Lodge (unfortunately, we missed the fiddle playing on Tuesday evening). The people of Kanab were very warm and friendly. There are lots of things to see and do in this area and I would highly recommend this property for your visit.

Bright spot on a rough vacation...

5 of 5
It was pretty much the vacation from Hell. First full day of our vaction (before we came to Kanab) my husband broke his ankle. Last full day, my daughter and I both got a nasty stomach bug. Thank goodness for having a really comfortable place to call home during our time in Kanab. The house was immaculately clean and the beds were very comfortable. There was plenty of space. The kitchen was well appointed with just about every kind of applicance you could want, including a really good blender (margaritas, anyone?). I was a little worried about the "swamp cooler" type air conditioner, but the house actually stayed as cool as we could possibly want it, even on 100-degree days. Being able to do laundry easily was such a nice change from staying in a hotel. Especially given the whole "stomach bug" thing (enough said). As far as Kanab goes, we keep getting drawn back to that area. Maybe we'll retire there some day! Maybe Lynn and Dianne will consider selling in another 20 years or so! ;) Such a great little town and with so much to do within an easy drive. And I think it maybe be the most breath-taking scenery I have ever seen, and I've done a fair amount of traveling. So, Kanab and Muriel's Place are a great combination, even on a vacation where it seems like everything is going wrong.
