My Grandbabies and I had a wonderful time on the Aries. The experience was terrific. We loved the water taxi into the Harbor and all other attractions. I will surely refer my friends and family to your little hideaway on the water. Diane Steinbrech

Perfect in every way!

5 of 5
We arrived late on a Friday night after 12 hours of traveling from the East Coast. Upon unlocking the door, we were taken in by the tranquil, calm surroundings, the bowl of fresh fruit, the bottle of wine, fresh coffee, the soft, sumptuous towels and down comforters. The place was spotless, well cared for and full of amenities. Everything was perfect for a week of exploring, cooking and relaxing with family. Janet has decorated the houseboat in the soft blues of a beach home without the cliche. The kitchen is a chef's dream! I made dinner for 8 without a hitch; all of the cookware, utensils, even olive oil, were available. There were plenty of dishes, glassware and even cocktail napkins.(I would suggest adding another setting of silverware for four more as we used all of the dinner and salad forks to meet our needs for the eight of us.) It's the other little touches that really made this place special. The binoculars, bird books and guides, magazines about San Francisco and Sausalito, the binder full of info on the area with extra maps and brochures! Other special touches included tissues in every room, scented soaps and lotions at the kitchen sink and in the bathrooms, and soft, cozy throws to curl up in at the end of the day while you watched the tide return and the sun set. I cannot say enough about the special level of hospitality that Janet provides in this floating home. Lastly, the location. Is perfect for whatever you wish to do in the area. You have easy access to SF, the Marin Headlands, Napa and Sonoma Valleys, and San Rafael. We did not lack for activity and sightseeing opportunities. As for local restaurants, we ate at Fred's for breakfast twice and loved the Millionaire's Bacon plus hash browned potatoes. Dinner included Fish, a sustainable seafood market and restaurant that had excellent quality, plus happy hour at Saylor's Restaurant. Saylor's had great $5 plates and delicious margaritas!

Great, unique experience!

The boat wasn't Miami chic brand new or anything, but was well cared for, very clean, and the service was very polite and responsive. The A/C cut out in the middle of the night and they came over right away to fix it. We were surprised how quiet it was at night, especially with Schooners Warf Bar just a couple hundred yards away. It was great to just lay on top of the boat and watch the stars at night or relax on it during the day. Walking the docks to check out all the boats was pretty cool. I really enjoyed living the lifestyle of a sailboat bum for a few days. I highly recommend this over a hotel room if you don't mind using the shared, yet private showers at the end of the dock. If traveling with a friend, having 2 suites, each with private baths, a living room/galley, a "patio" up top, and a lounge "bed" up top at the front of the boat offers a lot more than 2 queen beds in a hotel room. We felt extremely safe and private from the neighboring boats and dock traffic except for the occasional friendly smile or wave hello. The location was great with a 5 minute walk to Duval St and a quick bike ride anywhere else. There's plenty of restaurants and a convenience store right by the dock. The sail was a great bonus. The crew were incredible hosts and bartenders we shared some great stories with. Will definitely do this again!
