B & B in a different way

5 of 5
The Green Turtle is realy different. Far away from the busy city we slept well with the gentle movement by the waves. Sitting on the path with a sundowner - this is relaxation. The both rooms of the houseboat are large enough and well equiped. Karen & Jon has been very kind and we have enjoyed our stay. The only blemish is the noise of the close Logan Airport at daytime. But this is not really disturbing, it is special in a different way. Come and see!

A unique and affordable way to experience Boston!

5 of 5
We had the pleasure of staying on the White Elephant for a week in Sept 2014. We were a group of 6 (3 couples). After looking at various accommodation options in the city, this proved to be far and away the best value option. The boat offers 3 bedrooms each with a double bed. One room also has a pair of inset berths that would be great for kids. The upstairs layout is a bit difficult. You have to pass through the first bedroom, into the upstairs bathroom, and through the second bedroom to reach the rear sun deck. This might cause some problems privacy-wise, but we made it work for us. The main stateroom is well equipped with everything you need and its a comfortable place to relax after a hard day's sightseeing. The boat's caretaker, John, is only a phone call away at any time. He was there to meet us and show us around on arrival, and his friendliness and enthusiasm is a credit to the company. Best of all, however, is the location. From Long Wharf, its only a short walk to all amenities including T stations, shops, restaurants and bars, etc. Quincy Market/Faneuil Hall is only 5 minutes by foot, Boston Common just over 10. Absolutely ideal for those who would rather not hire a car. If you're worried about stability, don't be. The boat does rock very gently, but we found this to be calming and enjoyable. We would have no hesitation in returning to the White Elephant or to any other Sleep Afloat boat docked at this location. And we would be more than happy to recommend this to friends and family! Relaxing, beautiful, well-appointed stay

5 of 5
This place was perfect for my surprise getaway for my boyfriend. I wanted to take him somewhere relaxing, remote and peaceful. This is exactly what we got - the deck is the best place to spend your time and drink a glass of wine at sunset. The sunset was absolutely beautiful! Karen wasn't there this weekend but was more than helpful and caring via phone and text. The bed was SO comfortable we want to buy the same mattress and sheets now! The bathroom is very nice and modern. Despite being an older building of course, and being within a barn, all the modern amenities are there. If you aren't okay with seeing a spider or bug every now and then, then maybe you should just stay in a hotel. But if you're looking for authentic ranch life in a remote location, this is it. The interior is decorated perfectly. Plus, we found a bottle of wine outside our door which was a nice touch! If you are looking for something with rolling green hills, then be warned that whilst it's beautiful and romantic, the scenery is dry and barren. Don't go out to dinner - your time is best spent on the amazing deck, eating a home cooked meal or snacks and a glass of wine of course! Also, the dogs near the main quarters were extremely friendly but be warned about the dogs near the first house on the property - they were pretty vicious - they should definitely be kept inside when there are ranch guests, in my opinion, as we wanted to see the goats and donkeys by the road but the dogs got in our way! Everything else was wonderful though. It spurred my boyfriend to say he would like to get married on a similar property/setting!
