We always rent a home for vacations and weekends away, and are familiar with bringing everything but the kitchen sink with us just in case. Twin Ponds was a welcome exception to the "in-case" scenario. Beautiful inside with a myriad of furnishings and artifacts from the incredible orchid which greeted us on the kitchen table to the window leg lamp from "A Christmas Story", Steinway piano, lovely china and an amazing antique looking push button stove and cooktop with a built in steamer. The kitchen left us wanting for nothing. The view from the back deck is gorgeous. Looking over one of the three ponds to a large expense of field we witnessed a large blue heron, turtles, kingfisher and what we finally identified as a "Least Bittern", along with the occasional splashing of jumping fish. The bed is super comfortable, and while it took a little while to get used to the steam shower (couple of slight accidents after realizing you need to have the doors closed while operating...sorry), I am a convert to this method of waking up. Struggle a few paces from the bed in the morning, sit in the shower, turn on the steam and gently perspire for about 15 minutes before the conventional morning shower...with music from the built in radio if you wanted. Amazing.
The grounds are expansive with three ponds and two hot tubs (one propane and one wood fired). We only used one - I mean how many do you really need? We picked some fresh basil from the garden for our meals, and spent many happy hours either hot-tubbing or simply enjoying the view on the deck with very comfortable chairs, a frosty mug (supplied) of beer (also one supplied), or a glass of champagne (also supplied). Not so bad.
We stayed 4 nights and would have loved more. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing, stress free experience where everything is supplied, everything is good quality and everything works, this is your place. Civilization is only 10 minutes (or less), but you feel you are a million miles away. My guess is if we needed anything, our hosts would be more than happy to oblige....but we didn't need anything. Our thanks for a great long weekend.
Note: For all you city slickers, bring some sort of repellant in season. It's the country, and there are bugs especially at night (shocking really). We bought citronella's and they worked.
