Perfect Location

5 of 5
Great location for those of you taking the Heathrow Express into Paddington Station, the apartment is a short walk away from the pedestrian entrance into this station. Paddington Station also has Underground (Tube) station that'll take you all over London and to other train stations you may need to get around the country. The apartment itself is nicely appointed, although its below the street level (made it a little difficult to find), but it made the stay very quiet. Simple, comfortable, kitchen is well stocked with plates/pans/silverware, washer worked as expected, but you have to air-dry your clothes. There was a nearby grocery store for a nice variety of supermarket foods, a variety of pubs (our favorite isn't mentioned in John's house book - The Cleveland Arms, try The Mitre as well). We felt very safe walking back from the pubs or the train station late at night. Hint: Paddington Station has a number of food hawkers we found to be a great way to start the morning (double-bacon baps - yum!!) and Cornish pasty's for dinner. However, the pubs all had good dinner fair as well. Hyde Park is a little farther down, but is very doable with Buckingham Palace, Harrods, Embassy Row within walking distance. Also, try taking the Tube up to Portabello Street market, its a fun place to see all sorts of nick-nack stuff. All around, John has himself a very nice place to rest yourself after a long day of Tube'ing/walking around the city. We enjoyed our stay very much and will use his place again when we're in London next time. Thanks John, we much appreciated your hospitality and attention to detail with our transactions!!
