Upper Street apartment in Islington.

5 of 5
It was a little hard for our driver to find the apartment, but after three passes, he figured it out. It is a bit of a struggle getting the suitcases up three flights of stairs with some pretty sharp corners. The apartment is small--I don't see how five adults could sleep there short of sleeping on the floor. The kitchen is sufficient and stocked with plates, pans, and silverware. Complementary coffee for the coffee maker was provided. Make sure you have the handle tight on the coffeemaker or you will have a mess. Complementary high speed internet is provided which is a good thing since without it, I don't know if we would have ever figured out how to operate the IKEA microwave. The furnishings were quite nice and clean. Bathroom was modern, but watch the towel heater or you will get burned when sitting on "the Throne." Hot water heat kept the apartment toasty warm in December. No air conditioning for the summer months though. Considering how busy the street is out front, the apartment is quiet. Lots of restaurants and shops within easy walking distance and the Angel tube station was just down the street. The double decker buses stop right out front too. Public transportation in London is awesome. Making arrangements for the rental went smoothly. Communication with Paulo could not have been better.

Great location... Easy access to tube and shops!

4 of 5
We are a family of 6 - with 2 boys aged 20 and 13, and 2 girls aged 17 and 11. My husband & I and the girls took the upstairs bedrooms, the boys slept downstairs in the living room using the air mattresses provided. We arrived at the property early Friday morning and were greeted by the housekeeper Faye. When she saw that the 2 boys were the ones who'd be sleeping downstairs, she told us that the property only had a double air mattress, no singles. She said she didn't think that the boys would be comfortable sharing the mattress, so she'd go buy new ones. And true enough later that same day she came back and dropped off 2 single air mattresses and the bedlinens to go with them. We were pleasantly surprised and appreciated her thoughtfulness. We thought that the property's greatest asset was it's location. It was a very short walk to the Natural History Museum and the tube station, with numerous restaurants and cafes scattered around the area. The amenities provided were as listed and we had everything we needed and more. The open living, dining and kitchen area were large enough to fit all of us comfortably and this was a huge relief for us hecause we stayed at the property for 10 days and many evenings were spent here after a whole day's outing. The 2.5 baths were also a great comfort for us, and that was one of the main reasons i chose this property. I would say that the property is well maintained, but the only reason i didn't give it a 5-star rating is because i didn't find it as clean as I expected it to be. There was a thin film of dust/dirt on the kitchen counter and the toilets. It took a while for the water to drain from the shower stall, but the problem was only that the drain pipe was clogged with hair (which we cleaned ourselves). The cushions in the bedrooms and living room also need to be cleaned regularly. I do hope that the owner/manager would address these issues. Having said all that, I would definitely recommend the property to relatives and friends. I had no trouble at all in getting my questions answered regarding my booking and stay. Jacqueline was always prompt and precise in her correspondence with me. And the housekeeper, Faye was also always reachable by phone for any query I had. All in all, it was a very pleasant and comfortable stay for us.

Perfect Place to Stay

5 of 5
This place was so centrally located we hardly used any transit. Whether you want to see Buckingham Palace, Westminster Cathedral, Big Ben, The London Eye, Trafalgar Square, Parliament, The Abbey… and more, they’re just a short walk away. When we did need transportation, the tube station was just a few blocks from the apartment and the bus was just around the corner. There was a Sainsbury’s Supermarket nearby and lots of restaurants, pubs, bakeries, coffee shops and even fresh vegetable stands and outdoor food and merchandise vendors set up right on the corner square. As for the apartment itself, it was very nice and clean and included television & games for the children, a washer/dryer, dishwasher, two bathrooms, free WIFI, two very comfortable beds plus a surprisingly comfortable sofa bed, a small outdoor patio and even a bottle of wine and box of chocolates for us on our first night. The kitchen was compact but adequate for cooking when we did eat in and included some staples you don’t think about until you need them when you’re on a trip. My only complaint (which really wasn’t a big problem since we weren’t home much) was that the neighbors upstairs were moving out while we were there and they seemed to have a lot of heavy furniture to haul out at night! I wouldn’t worry though. They should be out by now. Overall we’d give the place five stars. We couldn’t have picked a better place to stay and have told all our friends and family to consider this place when they travel to London. Thank you for helping to make our London holiday a success.
