                      IDEAL FAMILY REUNION SPOT

                      5 of 5
Seven of us came to Yr Angorfa for a multi-generational family reunion. The accomodations were all we could have asked for: clean, well equipped and well maintained, with enough space for us to move around comfortably. Any questions we had upon arrival were answered promptly. The house served as a good launching pad for sight-seeing. The Bodnant Gardens are a short drive south of Conwy and are not to be missed (if you are a gardener they are, by themselves, a reason for coming to North Wales). The National Slate Mining Museum, near the foot of the Mt. Snowdon cog railway, was an unexpected treat: well designed and very well displayed, it shows a side of Welsh history that many might ignore. The cog railway has marvelous distance views of the landscape - until, if you are on a ride similar to ours, you enter clouds before the summit. Conwy is also a prime location for visiting castles along the north coast: besides Conwy’s own castle and walls, Caernarfon Castle is well worth an extended visit, especially for history buffs. And at the insistence of a grandson we visited the Purple Moose brewery in Porthmadog; it is difficult to locate, but the gift shop (and the tastings!) made the search worthwhile. If you don’t like sight-seeing, the walks and hikes in the area are great for the soul and body. We ended our week with a not-to-be-forgotten dinner at the Castle Hotel in Conwy: each of the five entrees we selected were superb. In sum, we would urge anyone to think seriously about a family stay at Yr Angorfa.
