I just returned from a week's stay at Anna's condo at Northwest Point Resort on Turks and Caicos. I traveled with my wife and two children, 9 and 10 years old; we all absolutely loved the island and these accommodations. If you are looking for the typical island vacation: banana boat rides, parasailing, lots of structured activities, Americans floating on rafts sipping fruity drinks, loud island music, local beach vendors selling you the great island experience every 5 minutes....this is not the place for you...for that experience, stay in Grace Bay (and bring your wallet.)
If you would like to experience the serene, natural beauty of Turks and Caicos, off the beaten path, in a slightly more economical/ecological fashion, consider Northwest Point. The resort is tucked away in the middle of the Northwest Point Marine National Park---prepare to be surrounded by complete, unadulterated, natural beauty---no other resorts or buildings on this beach.
Northwest Point Resort is on the opposite end of the island from Grace Bay, but only 20 minutes away by car. Anna's oceanfront condo has spectacular views, two awesome terraces from which I watched the sunrise every morning and amazing star-filled skies at night, a beautiful pool, and miles of gorgeous beaches. The condo itself is immaculate, spacious, and comfortable.
Our family enjoyed snorkeling, swimming and ocean kayaking, and, of course, the kids loved the pool. We enjoyed peaceful walks along the shore, and reading/playing on the white sand beaches, which we had mostly to ourselves much of the time. When we wanted to explore, we hopped in the car and visited other beaches. Anna provided a great travel and restaurant write-up which we used often; she was extremely helpful and a pleasure to deal with; the property manager on site, Charles, was also a great resource for us. Grace Bay had the most amazing beach we had ever seen and was worth several day trips; Smith's Reef had excellent snorkeling, and several of the other beaches we visited were great, but we always enjoyed coming back to the tranquil seclusion and natural beauty of Northwest Point.
If you want the highly pampered, pre-packaged island experience, this is probably not the place for you. If you really want to get away from it all, relax, spend quiet, quality time with yourself and your fellow travelers in an oceanfront paradise---consider staying here. We will definitely be back.
