The stay at Patrick/Shirley apartment

4 of 5
I spent 13 nights at the nice, secured, clean, apartment and had a wonderful time in Trinidad. The place was as described in the listing regarding location (Chaguana), layout, amenities (internet, appliances etc). The owner was next door neighbor and was very accommodating and was always at our service. I would highly recommend this property to a friend and relatives. I enjoyed the Caroni Bird Sanctuary, Maracas Beach, San Fernanda Hill etc.

Go for It - with confidence !!

5 of 5
Clean, neat, no frills and an ideal size for 2 sharing. Timely pick-up from airport by good Manager Dave, with very helpful stop-off at local supermarket to get initial basic provisions before arriving at house for first time. House has a comprehensive file of advice on virtually everything of interest to holiday-makers (e.g. detailed ratings for local restaurants and all main beaches on the island, accurate ratings for off-shore dives etc. etc.) which proved to be a very useful supplement to Dave's initial advice. Castara is probably the best place/area to stay on the island - locals are extremely friendly and nearby beaches (e.g. Englishman's Bay, Parlatuvier and Little Bay in Castara itself) are arguably the best and/or most easily accessed on the island. Eating out is very affordable/good value for money. Morning and late afternoon views from the house are to die for, made even better by the frequent sightings of 3 types of hummingbird - one pair of which are nesting in clear view above/left of the main deck. Surrounding gardens are well maintained and it is well worth taking at least one walk up the local access road (Miss Mills Trail) for easy access to see wild-life in the lower forest area. Use of hire car is practically essential for the whole of the stay.

Fantastic! Fantastic! Fantastic!

This was our second stay at the beautiful La Jolie. We decided to return to this particular villa having been so impressed with our stay the last time and thankfully our expectations were met. This time we decided to travel with our children, filling the 4 bedrooms (couples and kids) I must say that each of the rooms have ample sizing for the beds to accommodate the adults and room for a pack n play cot and single mattress. The ensuite bathrooms were a feature we wanted most as coming with a larger crowd of us this time it was extra nice to have the bathroom privacy. Ulin (the wonderful housekeeper of La Jolie) greeted us all with smiles and hugs for the children, it was incredibly heartwarming. The house was kept tidy during our stay, linens washed and towels changed. The use of the washer and dryer was great travelling with children so there was no need to pack 10 of everything! The children had the most fun of all, waking up every morning swimming in the pool and Jacuzzi. We made plans everyday to go to a different beach, nothing was too far away so making it back for kids nap time was easy. The house comes with beach chairs, large & small coolers for use by guests. There is also a designated TV room, equipped with cable, TV and DVD player. In the evenings we set up movie nights for the kids while the adults had dinner and drinks by the pool overlooking the view. Though restaurants were nearby we totally made use of the kitchen at La Jolie, we cooked morning, noon and night. We didn't need to bring anything! La Jolie had it all down to the Tupperware! There are also many supermarkets nearby some that were even open on New Years Day. Just down the street is also a fruit and veg vender so fresh bananas for breakfast were available at our doorstep. All in all this was a prefect get away for our families. I wouldn't hesitate to book here again and again. We made such wonderful memories La Jolie is truly our home away from home.
