Secluded Phuket

4 of 5
With a view and location like this its hard to find much wrong with the world, let alone the apartment. Of all the options in Phuket I think this is one of the better vacation stays. Its out of the main tourist zones and right on the Sea without being a resort, which is exactly what I was looking for. Just a couple of clarifications that I don't think are clear on the listing; Even though this is listed as an apartment, the building is comprised of some hotel rooms and 2 other privately-owned apartments (one on the floor below and one above this particular unit). Therefore, there is a front desk, daily made service, and a concierge, similar to a hotel. Not complaining about that, of course. Oddly, though I was asked for a security deposit from the front desk staff even though I made a sizable deposit (L1,000) through Homeway to the owner. (Sidenote: I had to request a refund, it was not automatically sent). The main attraction for staying here, aside from the obvious, was the kitchen. We like to cook and shop for local groceries while on vacation. On the bright side there is a fish monger directly adjacent to the building. We bought fish, prawns and lobsters (!). Funny that no one at the building, nor the owner, knew this place existed. Our luck! There is also a grocery store down the street towards the bars that has just about everything you would need. Downside was the kitchen equipment was not adequate. We made due, but Id like to see it more fully equipped. There was only one (wobbly) large pot, one pan, a few plates, and a couple of knives. Lots of silverware and glasses, however. (Chiana did warn me in advance, after I asked, that this is not her primary residence so it may be lacking on equipment). It was not a problem for us, since it was just the two of us, but the second bedroom is not really a bedroom by western standards. It does have an en suite bathroom but has no exterior window. This wouldn't fly in most parts of the world. So if you are planning to share this place with another couple, keep in mind someone is going to get the substandard bedroom with no natural ventilation. Unfortunately, the immediate area is lacking in authentic Thai restaurants/stands. There are only a few road-side stands towards Surin Beach. For the most part, the area is filled with generic restaurants and resort-type dining. Best to go to Phuket town once or twice for a real dinner. Just a few quibbles. Overall, it was a great stay!

Unbelieveably beautiful villa with excepetional views

5 of 5
The villa exceeded the expectations of our group of 8 people. The photos were a true reflection of the villa yet we were still amazed to see it in person. All staff involved from the booking process, concierge services and onsite services were exceptional. The onsite chef was absolutely amazing and you could truly taste the love that went into preparing and cooking the food. The villa manager was fantastic and he accommodated all of our requests. He was friendly and approachable and did all that he could to make our stay enjoyable. He was able to work with the chef to create a dining menu suitable to our budget. The grounds in the villa were cleaned regularly and maintained at a high standard. Thank you so much for making the full process easy and giving us the holiday of a lifetime!! We have memories that we will take forever :)

Awesome vacation property!

5 of 5
Stayed at Baan Saitara for about 2 weeks in December with 4 adults and a 2 year old toddler. Stayed one week in villa 4 and the remainder in villa 8. Absolutely gorgeous villas with stunning south east views of Koh Samui. Both Villas are spacious, clean and luxurious…we were often content just relaxing and enjoying the villa making occasional trips into Lamai area for supplies and food. The villas are of quality construction and nicely renovated each with its own private pool overlooking the beautiful vista. Villa 4 is a bit smaller (3 rooms) and simpler while villa 8 is larger with four rooms and better furnished (kitchen with large island, entertainment systems, network printer, desks, nice traditional thai art, etc.). The only downside to villa 8 is that it is situated higher on the hill which means you need to take a flight of stairs to reach it. On the other hand, with Villa 4 you could park your car directly at the front doors. Each villa is fully equipped with everything you need. From nice wide screen TVs with 100s of English and Asian channels, fully equipped kitchens, and all the towels, bathrobes and linens you need; to comfortable couches and beds for relaxing and sleeping. The villas also have good wifi coverage. At first the wifi and one of the air con units (for the living room) were not working well when we initially checked into villa 4. Ricky took care of these problems right away and had them both fixed by the next day. Villa 8 actually had very goof wifi and had three access points just for that villa. Very kid friendly and safe environment for my toddler. The villas are situated high amongst the hills so a car is really a must have (and easily arranged through Kat or Ricky). Villas are cleaned daily as well as the pool and staff are friendly and nice. Ricky and Kat are fabulous hosts and always available to assist. They really go out of their way to make sure you stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. We were provided free transfers to and from the airport. They also provide you with a local cell phone for convenience and so that you can contact them at anytime. I highly recommend Baan Saitara for your Koh Samui experience. Just like another reviewer mentioned, I almost don’t want to give this rave review in case it makes it harder for me to book in the future. This is definitely a little hidden gem and a great value.
