With a view and location like this its hard to find much wrong with the world, let alone the apartment. Of all the options in Phuket I think this is one of the better vacation stays. Its out of the main tourist zones and right on the Sea without being a resort, which is exactly what I was looking for.
Just a couple of clarifications that I don't think are clear on the listing;
Even though this is listed as an apartment, the building is comprised of some hotel rooms and 2 other privately-owned apartments (one on the floor below and one above this particular unit). Therefore, there is a front desk, daily made service, and a concierge, similar to a hotel. Not complaining about that, of course. Oddly, though I was asked for a security deposit from the front desk staff even though I made a sizable deposit (L1,000) through Homeway to the owner. (Sidenote: I had to request a refund, it was not automatically sent).
The main attraction for staying here, aside from the obvious, was the kitchen. We like to cook and shop for local groceries while on vacation. On the bright side there is a fish monger directly adjacent to the building. We bought fish, prawns and lobsters (!). Funny that no one at the building, nor the owner, knew this place existed. Our luck! There is also a grocery store down the street towards the bars that has just about everything you would need. Downside was the kitchen equipment was not adequate. We made due, but Id like to see it more fully equipped. There was only one (wobbly) large pot, one pan, a few plates, and a couple of knives. Lots of silverware and glasses, however. (Chiana did warn me in advance, after I asked, that this is not her primary residence so it may be lacking on equipment).
It was not a problem for us, since it was just the two of us, but the second bedroom is not really a bedroom by western standards. It does have an en suite bathroom but has no exterior window. This wouldn't fly in most parts of the world. So if you are planning to share this place with another couple, keep in mind someone is going to get the substandard bedroom with no natural ventilation.
Unfortunately, the immediate area is lacking in authentic Thai restaurants/stands. There are only a few road-side stands towards Surin Beach. For the most part, the area is filled with generic restaurants and resort-type dining. Best to go to Phuket town once or twice for a real dinner.
Just a few quibbles. Overall, it was a great stay!
